I just paid $299 off Contract at AT&T Store

I bought a Captivate at AT&T Corp Store for $299 plus tax off contract in central Arkansas.

They said if they had any in inventory they would sell me one. The Fedex man walk in about that time and had four! They were really nice and helpful. I ask the clerk what the prices where on and off contract and he said $199 plus $18 upgrade on and $299 off. I was out of contract, but for $82 I have the option of upgrading later on contract or leaving AT&T.

Wonder if it was an authorized dealer, because I don't see that happening at a corporate store.

It was a corp. AT&T store. I have no special discounts that I know of, maybe because I am a very long customer and out of contract. I thought $349 was too cheap, but I liked $299 better and did not complain. The other real suprise they were really nice!

I'm in So Cal and have had no luck finding one. I've called about 10 different AT&T stores and all said the phone is not in stock but will launch on the 18th, while others said it would launch on the 24th. No one knew the "official" no contract price and only could guess it will be $350.
