Never turn on a wet phone. 1st thing you should have done is pull the battery. With that said, my BlackBerry Pearl took a bath. It was on and I tried using it. It died then sort of worked over the next 24 hours. I replaced it the next day. A few weeks later I tried out the old one again and it was perfectly fine. All hope may not be lost.

I can't tell you what to do i'm just saying it says on thier own site that the insurance can cover lots of different things.

liquid damage, stolen, lost etc...
Thanks. I wonder if I can get a decent SD card out of it. That would be nice.

Do they require you to send your old phone back to them or something, or do they let you keep it?

I know better next time. Hopefully there wont be a next time but at least I'll know better. I'll try it now and then still.

As far as i know if you report it broken, then they want it back , but if its stolen or lost, you cant give it back lol, although verizon will kill the device because I think you have to put in a police record, or I think they make one... never goes anywhere but needs to be reported neither the less...

keep your sd card and just return the phone and yes you must return the phone if you don report it stolen

Go to a drug store and buy a container of the highest concentration of isopropyl alcohol they have. Hopefully you can find 99%, but 92% will work. Take everything apart and rinse it all (sans battery) with the alcohol for a bit. THEN put it in rice (taken apart still) for 24-48 hours.

The alcohol removes water while it evaporates and can possibly wash some salt away. The rice should help remove any other moisture, but it needs to stay in the rice for a while. I resurrected a camera from its watery grave once, but it had to soak in rice for nearly a week.

I guess then re-assemble it and try it again.

This will COMPLETELY destroy your screen. Even if it fixes the water damage, you will still wreck your phone.

EDIT: On second thought, I might have been thinking of Acetone. I'd still probably not do the screen.

It couldn't hurt to leave it in the rice for day/s. It might save the phone.

I recovered my Touch Pro using the rice method for around a day or so after it fell in a dog's water dish.

Damn, and I whine and complain because I dropped mine on concrete without the protector...
At least with the Super LCD you may be able to see it outside in the sunlight...

Good luck!

I guess we'll see when they give me a call.

It's still in the rice. I'll try it tomorrow night.

i have also heard of people taking the phone apart and putting them in the oven. It would obviously need to be at a low temperature, and probably not for a long time. i have no experience but i have heard of people doing it, maybe worth a try if your going with the lost the phone story.

It still won't work. Just got an email from Asurion saying they have it in stock, but I don't have the $90 at the moment. So I'm now stuck without a phone for two weeks, maybe more if they don't have them in stock by the time I have the money. Doesn't look like they cover SD cards and extended batteries either. Only an earpiece, leather case and the car charger. Bleh.

Closing this thread as the discussion has ventured into a gray area that could be interpreted more as fraud than advice, tips, troubleshooting, etc.. and this forum is not going to support that sort of activity.
