Battery Drops like Ashley Simpson's Career?

I agree, this is horrid battery life so far. Not really that surprised as I thought it wouldnt be so great with the big screen and all, and I just cant put it down lol. Texting all day etc etc lol. Luckily I'm always near a charging source, so far. I'm not giving up on the X just yet :D

This happened yesterday before I charged the battery from the store so I accepted it, however, today not so much.

The battery seems to hold off fine, but then as soon as the battery hits about 35%, it goes into a free fall until finally - minutes later - the 5% warning pops up and all of the sudden the phone shuts off and has to be charged to above 10% before it will even turn on.

Has anyone noticed this on their new Droid X (After the primary charge)?

Yup. I've been experiencing the EXACT same thing. I am really hoping this improves over the week, but this is why I sent back my Incredible in the first place!!

This battery seems to be better than stock Incredible, but worse than extended (1500mAh) in the Incredible.

We'll see, but I love the screen so far, but it seems to be sucking all the life from this beast. The Incredible had poor battery life because of weak radios -- this X seems to have poor battery life because of the massive freaking screen!!

Trade-offs right? ;)

Hmm it really seems everyone in here is either one way or the either...either think the battery life is superior or disapointing. Here's my situation...It charges VERY fast, under an hour, I haven't been playing with it much at all since that doesn't exactly thrill my girlfriend, and it's stand by time is still only about 6 hours...I sent maybe 5 texts today, 1 phone call, 30 minutes of web surf. I'm starting to get nervous for taking this thing to work...if I unplug at 6 am, it'll be done by noon.

I'm assuming it will get better. It took FOREVER to charge the first time. Now im at 90% and it seems steady. I assume it will continue to improve

When the battery gets to 40% or so pull it out for a couple minutes then reinstall. If once you reinstall it the phone says it has more battery then before the pull, you need to calibrate it with a few complete discharge and recharge cycles.

My battery life had been excellent. I definitely don't have to worry about it as much as I did with my Incredible.

Mine has been awesome...Took off charger at like 2pm...been playing with it non stop...music, youtube, browser, text, im, and calls...and just now (almost 10pm), it's still at 40%...so for first charge that's excellent. After having the incredible, I am almost waiting for it to keep dropping and it doesn't :p

So far the battery life on my X has been good! For me, however, it's more difficult to gauge since it's docked when I'm in the car and at the office (when, of course, I'm not playing with it!).

Hey is it better or worse to leave your phone on/plugged in or off all night? I assume off, but I'm just wondering.

So wait, people are running live wallpapers, browsing, watching videos and running every widget under the sun all on this nice big screen and on top of that still expect stellar battery performance?
Good luck with that. Today I managed close to 14 hours on a charge with a fair amount of web browsing which is a lot better than I was expecting. IMO, just getting through a work work day is
more than acceptable considering the circumstances.

Well I took mine off the charger at noon and it lasted till about 11:35 p.m. today. So it definitely lasted longer than my Incredible, I used it quite a bit today as well, I was pretty impressed. Also I have exchanged set up, have it on push so that probably hurts my battery as well, but I have to get my work emails just in case I have to fix something.

Odd, it seems to be good or bad and nothing in between. Mine seems to be much better than my Inc.

I had my X die today after only 8 hours. This was after a full charge taken off charger at 11:00 AM. Surfing the web for about 1 hour, Google Navigator for 1 hour with display always on and maybe an hour of streaming XM Radio over my bluetooth headphones. Hopefully this will get better.

Static wallpaper, Data set to turn off after 15 mins of inactivity, smart battery profile, bluetooth on GPS on.

Interesting enough my DINC would last me at least 1.5 days with same setup and usage on the stock 1300 maH battery.

My Droid was just as bad on 2.1, once I got on 2.2 it was awesome. Just wait fellas 2.1 is the issue, not the phone.

That's absolutely shocking to me. You must've been given a God-made battery. lol

LiIon batteries need about 10 charge cycles to be consistant in their charges. You don't need to discharge all the way and charge to full as LiIon batts don't develop a memory. I'm always amazed at how many people complain about battery life in the first few days of owning a phone. Come on people, by now we should all be aware of how batteries work! LOL ;)

So my phone didn't charge last night, gay. So I noticed the outlet I was using doesn't work, what a noob. So this morning I am charging it, it won't turn on until 10 percent, finally turns on then it says 60 percent. What!!!!

Here's an example of how mine seems to be draining too fast. I have only a few network-updating widgets that are set at the minimum to update only 30 min or more. Also, wifi, bluetooth, and gps are off, and screen is on auto-brightness.

Took the phone off the charger at 11 this morning after being at 100% for a while overnight, and did maybe one text msg, read a few emails and checked Twitter updates via the app, and general browsing of the phone menus and apps (nothing major at all that would drain a battery), and within 15 minutes, the battery was down to 90% according to the Status screen.

Is this normal to most of you? By the sound of it, many of you seem to have wayyyy better life, and I'm getting nervous lol.

Also, in my room, it is staying mostly on 1x but not all the time. And I have the beautiful widgets - beautiful home clock/weather widget but that's set to pull only every hour or two. No live wallpaper. Screen timeout in 15 seconds.

EDIT:

And now about 30 minutes later, after a few more small things like more texting (maybe about 4 texts), and more general phone browsing over that period of time like trying to load an HQ Youtube video that never loaded, it is now at 80%. Come on really? This reminds me of my BB Storm and its horrid battery life. Is this what I should continue to expect within an hour of light use?

EDIT2: And now at 12:30, maybe 20 more minutes later after only doing maybe 1 or 2 more texts and some menu option changes within settings, it is now showing as 70%.

EDIT3: Now at 60% after playing only 2 Pandora songs and typing up some notepad memos.

This is really pissing me off.
