Evo or Droid X

EVO:
PROS & THINGS I MISS:
Sense is it biggest PRO....Even though HTC screws up on build quality, HTC software for the most part is very very good and i do kind of miss sense.

I miss the capacitive touch buttons...the X's buttons are foreign to me because all 5 of my android phones have had capacitive buttons.

I kind of miss my front facing camera...my webcam never worked but i love taking pictures of myself that way

Cons:
I don't like the look of the Evo...it is too fat to me

Sprint, Sprint, Sprint...hate them

build quality

While Sense is a Pro it is also a con...it is starting to become dated compared to stock android and the other UI's

DROID X:

PROS:
VERIZON, VERIZON, VERIZON...LOVE THEM
It is taller and skinnier
excellent camera
THE UI is different
REALLY REALLY FAST

Cons:
The UI is different and therefore is taking time to learn...it feels a bit too much

The phone feels...weird in my hand but not bad weird just...weird

Verizon's plans suck

The buttons

That junk in the trunk aka the hump although i kind of like it as well

no pinch to zoom home screens :( even tho i hardly used it

That's funny, because most of the "women" I know like girth.

But you are still a little "girl".

So no harm no foul.
 
Played with the Droid x today at a Verizon store. I still love my evo but the Droid was much smoother. The scrolling was very smooth, almost iPhone smooth. Definitely hope HTC improve the smoothness on the Evo in 2.2 or any other updates.

Yeah just got the X today :)

and i am using the phone the exact way it came(aside from the apps i downloaded)

i don't really care for the launcher/home replacements android market offers

they always seem to lack something that the original OS has that i like
 
Why do we even compare the EVO with the X. It's obvious the EVO is the creme of the crop, everything else is just an iphone!

I agree with you.... Sprint is one of those depends where you live kind of things

Obviously for me, it was no good but i hear NY has a lot better coverage....

Well idk how it's possible but i was paying close to the same thing with verizon with compatiable plans and the same features

My brother doesn't have the best credit so they gave us a spending limit charge

Verizon:
Unlimited Everything: 119.99
Insurace: 7 bucks i think
Ringback: 1.99

Sprint:
Spending limit charge: 5 bucks
Plan: 99
Insurance: Also 7 or maybe 6 i cant remember
Data charge: 10
and then ringback: 2 or 3 dollars

Make sure you give us some Droid X feedback. You had it now for one full day. I am still thinking why they added that hump. Maybe to add a better camera or there way to add a kinda kickstand. My eyes just went crossed eyed.

Today, I am going to be out and about because i have a photo shoot at 12 and going to give more tests....My best friend will be with me and i gave her my old Evo so i can do a lot more comparison

and i will post back later today :)
 
If taking pics make sure to put the max resolution for both phones. Also if you have time tell her to take some video from both phones. I like how you say old Evo like its a windows 95 pc. Good luck on that photo shoot. If you want let's trade come work in the city and i'll take the photo shoot for you. but i hope they don't mind taking pics of me sleeping. I'm sooo tigger.

I played with the X a couple days ago. It's a pretty cool device but it seem kind of sluggish. I was suprised about the feel of the phone though. It feels good in the hand lol. In the end of the day I'm still happy with my EVO. It looks much sexier and I just love sense over motoblur. But those that have an X have a pretty good phone. Android wins regardless. BTW Carmen, I know you're finally thrilled with your new phone. How are you loving it so far?

Service coverage is the big factor to consider. The carrier maps are not very accurate and impossible to compare. Download the Sensorly app and compare coverage on your block other owners get. The maps on their website are low def but still give you an idea: Home | Sensorly

The evo is a great phone by most accounts but the droid x is superior.

I love the ui of the phone and sense is beginning to get old.

No ffc but to be honest fring and qik suck as webcam app and that's all there is now.

I plan to get my x soon
and with verizons network you will be set vs sprint

Evo is by far the best phone i ever had or played with! Dont listen to her, she has no idea what she's talking about.
 
My buddy brought his Droid X over last night and we were comparing it to my EVO.
I don't have much to say as there has been alot said already, but here is what i noticed. Compared to my Evo, the Droid felt sluggish. I performed actions and loaded apps faster. This is because the Droid has 20+ running services compared to the 7 services i have running on the Evo. I am sure once the Droid's service list is cut down it will be on par with the EVO. Other then that the phones are very close. The Moto UI is similar to Sense with home screens but i believe Sense is still better polished and more fluid. Thats my 2 cents.

I agree the Evo is by far the best phone i have ever used. Also i have to listen to her. She is in the same state as me and can hunt me down. Ahhh!!! ok i'm weird and i enjoy feedback from anyone and everyone except Tom Cruise.

Those are the running services you can see.

Here's a snapshot of the processes on my Evo when it's just apparently idling and nothing more:

It only takes a single bad app or service to completely dog any device.

Because we might never penetrate the Droid X's root-repelling chastity belt, we may never know where that sluggishness comes from - too many - or one stinker.

The more interesting story I'd like to hear someday - they said it would launch with 2.2, no question, and then changed their minds.

Not oh corporations do this all of the time, not oh I'm sure was minor - I want to know the real story. I have little doubt that it's interesting.

PS - I can background a lot of stuff on my Evo and not notice loading slowdowns or UI sluggishness.

What's under the hood - really?
