Captivate Free at WalMart

Like I said, don't hold your breath. Chances are slim to none you will get it for that price. I hope you do (and I hope I do as well). These types of companies are not in business to sell phones off contract (they make their money from contract commissions) and to sell it for HALF of what AT&T sells it for is highly unlikely (unless you are renewing your contract).

I would strongly suggest you make a screen print of the page that shows the price and says "phone only" for your records.

Did that as well. It has already hit my bank account. Who knows?

I ordered mine for $229 Will this allow me to keep my unlimited data plan that I currently have with my iphone? Also will this use my upgrade?

Since you bought it unlocked, you should be able to just put in your SIM and be good to go. It will not affect your contract terms.

I wonder if this deal is in stores as well?
I doubt it, generally speaking the on-line price and in-store prices vary. If you notice even though it has the Wal-Mart logo on the page, you have actually been redirected to a third-party seller (Letstalk), I don't believe Letstalk handles in-store sales too, there you will be dealing with a Wal-Mart associate.

Price now reflects $199.99 with contract. I placed an order earlier to upgrade a line on a family plan and keep my unlimited data with a contract extension for $49.99. That order is now showing cancelled. Price error and dead now. Hoping Best Buy will match Wirefly's price that does not appear to be a pricing error.

My order has not been cancelled and the letstalk/walmart site still shows 229 off contract (free with upgrade/new account).

I don't see any webpage yet that says $199 with a 2 year contract on Let's Talk. That's still looking free to me, so no price change yet, and my order still stands.

PS - Never mind. I see that clicking over the family plan tab shows $199, while lets talk new plan shows Free.

My order says: customer attention needed status

I called Walmart...and read some bit on this. Turns out some purchases via Lets Talk get flagged for no-contract purchases......by computers, and a standard procedure to check that your credit card is good...seems hoky

Also, my original order had a wrong email, possibly hence the flag and "attention" status....crap.

Yeah, I stand corrected. Some areas show Free, some show $99.99, some show $199.99.

Tried ordering one contract free for the $229 like everyone else instead. Guess I'll see how that goes.

It's not UNLOCKED, it without contract. There is a big difference. (Other then the fact you won't get it for that price).

Stand corrected, although I have gotten At&t to unlock every device I have had by just asking. You might need to have the device 90 days, not sure.

So nobody has really confirmed this yet. Is LetsTalk officially offering this for these prices or is it a pricing error?

Hey guys - well, I can't speak to the fact that it could be an error. BUT! I talked to the customer service guy - I had entered all the info except pushing the final "purchase" button, and saw a "need help? Call us!" button - I called, they had my session info, pulled up allll the stuff I had put in, and I asked 3 times:

IS THIS THE RIGHT PRICE FOR THE HANDSET ONLY?
NO CONTRACT EXTENSION?

He put me on hold, and came back and said yes, it's only the phone, no contract extension, that is the correct price, and that there are no terms or liabilities that needed to be disclosed because I was purchasing only the phone!

Then I got the email confirmation, plus the link email saying that I needed to follow it to accept the terms and conditions (which are all about returning the device if you decide you don't like it)

Yes, it could happen that this was the wrong price and they won't honor it - but I have the guy's direct extension, and well, it seems legit - If it isn't, I guarantee it's the last time they'll release a new phone on a Sunday when the bigwigs aren't around to catch the price error :-D

The company is closed for the day so there is no way to tell. I have little doubt it is a pricing error considering there isn't a single new smartphone available from any company anywhere in the US (if not in the entire world) for $229 WITHOUT a signing NEW contract.

When they see 3000 orders for a non-contract phone you can be sure they'll fix it ..... but maybe we'll get lucky and the first 25 ordered will get one at that price. Just don't pin your hopes on getting one for that price.

That being said, I HOPE I AM COMPLETELY WRONG! (But I highly doubt it).

He said that simply because he went to the web page and saw the same thing you saw and confirmed it. You think he called the CEO of the company to check?
