Guys! Try out GDE homescreen cube! AMAZING!!!

I just installed the GDE homescreen replacement from the market and im amazed!! My droid didnt slow down I got all my widgets running. It adds a call button like HTC Sense UI on left side and then the right side ya can make whatever ya want( perfect for us droiders since droid doesnt have a call button.

t rotates a cube and so far ive had no issues. It cleans up the menus by a ton. Now all your menus are accessed through a new designed menu layout. It even includes a REALLY nice Application Dock that roates as ya drag it. I was able to compress my 3 homescreen into just 2 with pleanty of room.

I know it use to have issues but this runs FAR better then open home for a fact. Its just really nice and makes the phone layout so much better!!

GDE - The new home experience! v0.1.7.5 Application for Android | Tools

Giving it a try.

Feels a BIT slower but I might get used to that, we'll see.

First issue: How do I get rid of an Application Dock widget? put a couple in the wrong place and now i cant move them by long-pressing

NVM, just had to longpress the side.

I really havent noticed to much of a slowdown. There is an option to turn off the cube effect and make in fade to next screen might ease it up. I just love the application dock and how it cleans up the menus.

I really love the 2 buttons it adds to the bottom of screen to access phone and have my other as contacts! its great! The team doing this works hard on it and updates are pretty common.

I tried open home and its not even close to as complex as this and it eat my phone alive. lol

I thought that this would be an immediate uninstall but upon initial review its actually REALLY GOOD!!! I had to turn off the cube effect and just went with the standard sliding transition between screens and the end result is a much faster and slick home screen experience than the stock one. Thanks for letting us know about this. I love having a phone button at the bottom of the screen.

I'm loving GDE. This thing is FAST after you remove the Cube effect. All my widgets seem to work and the theme selection seems to be much better than the other home replacement apps.

I have trouble paying for this when I can get PandaHome for free. The droid beta is out not and works really well.

Well. I can tell you I've tried Panda, Ahome, and what ever other piece of crap out, and GDE is where it's at. It's $3 for christ sake.

Why do people complain about buying apps? They give you a 48 hr trial period anyways. If you don't like it, paypal refunds your money. Big deal.

It's a 24 hour trial period, but the idea is right.

Anyways, any of you guys using the Hero theme? It's really nice (and free).

So far it is definitely nicer.

I havent cut off cube effect yet but I notice several times it just stops responding to swipes for a minute or two.

I wish it would go to the central homescreen when you click home instead of going to the last screen. Wish you could order the applications in the application dock righ now it puts it in its own illogical order and cant be changed.

edit actually it does go to the center home screen once you mark the app to be the default action.

I am not complaining about buying apps. I am simply stating that a free version of a similar app that offers almost the exact same functionality is what I will choose every time. Its called being a smart consumer. I will gladly buy apps, and have done so, this one just doesn't seem to be a good value for the money given its free competition. And the Panda beta was just release today, if you have actually tried it and didn't like it, great, but I get the feeling that you haven't.

Tried it and uninstalled it in about twenty minutes non of my widgets would update, (pure calender and digital clock widget)

Thanks! Now can someone explain the application dock to me?

Just add a shortcut or contact or whatever icon then drag it onto the app dock then you have a sliding icon app dock.

So far I have 7 screens no cube effect, beautiful clock, pure calendar/messenger and so far it is pretty dang nice. Much smoother than the 3 default homescreens.
