Multimedia Dock for Droid

My buddy and i were literally the first two in the door at our local VZW store. I bought my docks and chargers 2 days earlier for fear of rumored low stocks and he didnt heed my warning. Needless to say, he too is still without docks! LOL Bummer bud.

I spoke with Verizon yesterday and asked why it wasn't on the web site for ordering. They said the part number is mota855dock, and that once we can order, it can be found by searching the part #.
If you check the Droid from Verizon Wireless page and click on accessories on the left menu, then choose the multimedia station, it says, "coming soon."

What can I say, sometimes paranoia pays off. Plus the manager had let me play with his Droid first so I could be sure I wanted to buy the stuff!

a friend and I were also first two in line. The store we went to only had 3 docks so good thing we did go early enough! I talked to a verizon guy that said they could order docks and that they would come in a couple days....so maybe ask at the verizon store

I had this problem too and went with the dock
...Has anybody found a case that plays nice with the dock? I really want to put a case on this, but love the home dock!

They seemed to have quite a few at my local verizon in tn. Not sure if they would ship it. It really is the best dock i have ever owned for a phone. A definite must buy
The Verizon store where I got my Droid only had 6 of them in stock so I didn't get one.
What REALLY pisses me off is that I was the first person to arrive at the store that morning so I could have received one but I drank too much coffee and had to drive off to find a gas station to use the bathroom. By the time I got back to the store I was 5th in line. Still OK but then then manager took peoples names down in the wronf order so I ended up being the 10th or so to get served and they were all gone by then.
I didn't complain at the time since they didn't have the car dock and I wanted both and I figured it would be no big deal finding both of them at a Best Buy but NOBODY in Vegas seems to have any of the docks.
I bet you were at the store I was at. North Buffalo? If so, yea the docks went quick, and they didn't have any mobile docks at all. I had the rep order the MM dock and the car dock online when I bought the phone, should be here Mon/Tue.
Ironically, I have a custom iPhone mount I used for my iPhone in my car at the moment. It works great and holds the phone perfectly. Sure it doesn't allows the keyboard to slide open (why would I want that?) and it doesn't go into the "car" mode once I put it in (easy enough, just hit the Car Home app). So depending on what feature it offers (if any) from my current dock, I may return it. The custom dock I have is also not windshield mounted and is closer to me and easier to read.

Once they make a VSM mount for the DROID, I'll be all over it. They are great car mounts.

I was at the store yesterday and tried to get one. The woman looked at me like i was an alien when i asked her if they had either the car or home docks. She said I don't know what that is, I explained, she says hmm, and gives me the total on the phone. No attempt to even find out what i was talking about or if they had any in the back.

I got to the verizon store yesterday around 11...there was no line, they had plenty of phones and accessories, I got the car and multimedia piece.
I like both a bunch, now I need to install a hardwire charger and audio out so that I can run Pandora in my car and cancel XM.

No problems in southeastern Michigan.
As a matter of fact, I didn't even get to the Verizon store until 4:30 p.m. They still had everything available and I was able to pick up the Droid and the docking station right away.
Of course, this is a corporate store. Maybe that makes a difference.

Lol, I was at that store, I was the guy with the red GTO.
Anyway, what I really wanted was the car dock for the GPS, that thing works great but I've since found that the Verizon one doesn't have a charger and still no release for the official Motorola one so I was going to try building my own with a generic/ipod one and some magnets. I already have a cigarette lighter to USB converter.

I got both of my docs when I got my phone. Not sure how many the store had in stock, they didn't say.
This is the route I want to go. Really don't need the verizon on and I don't use the feature that much. So I just need a holder that can turn sidways and I will just activate the carhome app when needed. I already have a moto car charger so I'm good on that.

I have one of those generic hold any phone clip to your dash vent holders they sell at Best Buy. I took it apart and glued a small piece of a hard drive magnet inside. Now it activates car home when I put my droid in the dock! Unfortunately I can't plug in the phone at the same time, the gripper arm on that side covers the port.

I was hoping for a MicroUSB Extender or something that would allow a cased DROID to work in the dock.. Or Maybe BodyGlove or another company will come out with a Specific Dock for Cased Phones... What is it.. Just some magnets and a Micro USB Extender?

I bought my docking station online on Saturday and received it on Tuesday via Fed Ex. My local store was out of them and when I called Verizon, they said there were none in stock. I got online and started changing the zip code for ordering and when I plugged in Chicago, the dock showed up. I ordered it, changed to my correct address at checkout and the sale went through. I think others were able to do the same thing using a zip code from Utah, so check around.
