Desire Firmware OTA Update

My friend has just gotten a Voda Desire and her software version is 1.19something... Whereas my unbranded is 1.21... Does anyone know why this is?
The first Voda and three handsets were unlocked and unbranded to get stock quick.

Both now have their own firmware, and newer 3's are locked.

checking whether phone is branded - I assume mine is as I bought it from 3 and it has the 3 logo on start up etc.

If branded can I only accept software updates from my network provider's (3) website and NOT the HTC website itself?

What about the software update feature under:

Settings>About Phone>System Sofware Updates - is this redundant?

Current versions im using:

Firmware: 2.1-update1
Software 1.22.771.1

Are these still up-to-date?

I got my Desire from 3 as my upgrade and mine doesn't have any 3 branding on it and since reading your post I double checked my software number and it's 1.21.405.2 (firmware 2.1-update1) with no updates available when I check manually. This is the only OTA update I've received since getting the phone in May.

I'm guessing your software number is 3 specific, whereas mine is HTC specific.

I received a 3 Desire about a month ago, and it was on 1.21.405.2 which appears to be an unbranded ROM. It is unlocked, too.

Was I just lucky or did they start selling branded Desires after that?

Hi everyone. I have a factory unlocked Desire and currently using it with Rogers in Canada. Heard the news that HTC will be pushing Froyo update OTA for Desire from this weekend. Pls let me know if it will be carrier based or region based. And will I get the OTA update as I bought a unbranded Desire. Thanks.

I did the debranding flash which then caused problems with this update. When 2.2 comes out for the Desire, do you think this update will work ok? Could i get similar problems to the no WiFi problem? Or is it just a case of wait and see?
