Orange UK 2.1 update news

Add from Widgets->Settings and then choose mobile network, wi-fi, bluetooth and GPS.

Did it mark anyone elses e-mails as unread? is only done one account, but it has marked 200+ e-mails unread. annoying! Thats the only bad thing I have found - How minor!

Edit: I also have just a random reboot - I guess this issue hadn't been fixed :(
 
I've had the htc loading screen (white htc logo on black background) for around an hour and a half now, after saying yes to the install...

Anyone else have the same problem?

By the looks of things, I swear I must be the only person to be failing at this :(
 
Had a cheeky look for the update this morning on 3G; got it instantly...but now i have to wait all day before i get home to my Wifi connection, D'oh I'm my own worst enemy! Its going to be a long day at the office!!

Wonder how long it will be until the dust settles and we forget this drama ever happened??

I "think" it's where it was before But now called netwrok type, I "think" GPRS is the old 2g setting and WCMDA is 3g+... but am prepared to be shot down:eek:

Exactly right, instead of switching between the two(2g/3g)the phone does it automatically so you get the best signal. Pretty good idea.

however that approach can eat battery if you are in an area where the 3g signal is "flakey", forcing 2g prevented that flicking between the 2 signals and consequent search / syncs with the cell towers etc
 
Good point, I'll leave it looking for the best signal and see how it goes.

I have to say I'm mighty impressed with 2.1, it's been a long wait but it has been worth it.

Google Goggles is jawdropping!

Google Maps run the way they're supposed to, nice and snappy, pinch zoom works very well. Navigate works very well, even on a crappy signal.

I love the way you can hold down the home key and your screens appear, I'll probably use that all the time.

Don't know if it's just my imagination but everything feels a bit quicker.

OK so when do we get 2.2?

I got the part 1 update fine yesterday. today i downloaded the part 2. when it restarted i've had the white 'Hero' logo on screen for about 30minutes now - is this normal?

If it's not, what are my options?

Hi , i updated this morning . . i have a few questions lol

1. I did "2" updates , but in my phone>fimware version says 2.1-update1
Is this the "full" 2.1 or do i need to do part 2 ?

2. I read somewhere that doing the update would NOT affect your memory card, however it now says my memory card needs formatting!! is there ANY way to get those important files back now or are they lost for good?

3. Apps to SD , is this feature already enabled or do i have to activate it/download an app to do it?

I really appreciate your help guys (an girls) . . .thanks
 
Android 2.1 update1 is the final one :) You've got it.

Mine didn't wipe the SD card, so check everything is there. It should only reset your homescreen icons etc.

Apps to SD is only in 2.2, right?

Does this update work on build 2.73.61.5?

I still haven't got part one yet. What do I need to do to get it, nudge the date forward a month?

After part 1 installs what do I have to do then to get part 2? Nudge it forward again?

Was just wondering if anyone did anything in particular to prompt part 2 of the update to come through. I have nudged the date forwards and back still hasnt come through even when I manually try and search for updates. Were most users connecting to Orange normally when they received or through a wifi connection?

i just installed the .66 rom and then everything else came OTA for me

other than this small hassle with my SD card it was problem free

Mine was on Wi-Fi. I nudged the date forward a month, went back to the home screen and it found it in about 3 seconds.
 
Once you have done part 1 you will wind a new option under menu>settings>about phone called system software update. go into this and click 'check now'
 
Lost a lot of contacts...............

Dunno what that is all about. Not happy and re Sync hasn't helped.
