Orange UK 2.1 update news

The .66 upgrade is not delivered OTA - you have to download and install via PC. There are two OTA upgades. The first one is a small one which prepares the phone for the main, second one.

So it does appear that you can upgrade on Orange without having .66, and you don't loose your data.

Yes. How does it preserve what's on the phone during the update?

Putting the date forward to 2012 worked for me too. I was stuck on 1.5 because my PC wouldn't recognise my phone when I tried to update to.66. Now my phone is much faster, they keyboard seems better and I can get Voice Search!

I didn't bother backing up and unfortunately it didn't wipe my Apps, or my data. Just had to sort out my scenes again. The only downside is that my contacts in People have been mucked around. I'm sure the new version of People has lost something since 1.5.

So all in all, so far so good!

I have a hero on Orange and updated to 2.1-update1 months ago. Are we to expect a full 2.2 upgrade on hero, or should I wait and get a Desire HD when my contract renews?

Cheers guys.

AFAIK there are no plans to provide an official 2.2 update for the Hero. I think that 2.1 is all you will get, unless you want to root and install a custom ROM.

Sad, but true; my phone is less than a year old, but HTC already forgot about me months and OS versions ago. Twunts :(
