FFV11 - Really worth it?

Hi-

Playing FF7 on Nexus One.

Anyone have problems transitioning from walking to running with your character? Seems that I can only "run" for a bit and then it throws me into the character menu.

For example, I'm pushing the left-direction on the d-pad, walking left, then hold 'X' to run. I'll run for just a bit - and then I go to the character menu (which you normally get to when pressing the Triangle).

yeah im getting this, its just multitouch, i find that if you press "X" first and then the direction it will help, plus you can't really simply swipe your thumb to change direction, its better to take your thumb off the screen totally.

sucks about FFIX and no sound though!?

Thank God for that, I thought I was the only one. I have exactly the same issue. Do you use a screen protector as I do - might be that.

I'm playing through FF7 on my X right now and it runs amazingly. Probably one of the best games ever to have on a mobile platform, and easily pays the $5.99 psx4droid fee itself.

I recommend rooting your phone and installing MinFreeManager or another aggressive memory manager. It really makes a difference in random studdering. Turning off your data connection to preserve battery life and prevent background syncing will also increase performance on memory-intensive games.

No screen protector for me.

The N1 definitely has a not-so-good multi touch screen. Makes a majority of emulator games not so fun. Samsung Galaxy's multi-touch blows the N1's out of the water.

playing FF9 on my incredible, I just got to Dali where you beat the blackwaltz 2, i get on the airship and when it takes off my games crashes. did you get there yet or not have this problem, trying to see if i have a bad rom

A little late.. But this used to happen on an old version of the PCSXE emulator. It's fixed now..

What you can do is transfer your SD card to a computer, Run the game in Pcsxe to watch the cut scene, get to disk 2, save, then move it back to the phone and continue playing with disk 2. :)

ive spent at least 100 hours playing this game when it was on the ps1...lost6 all sense of time ...f8 was better though...ps now up to 60 hours on line time with bad comp 2 ...

was it a bad ROM? I wondered as i will get FF9 after FF7 ... FF8 can wait till last!

No, I hit this point too. It's just that this early release of PSX4Droid hits the same snag that the earlier epsxe did on the PC. Do as I said above: Transfer to PC, get through the cutscene, switch to disk 2 and save, then move back to the phone.

No, it's a hardware limitation of your multitouch screen like I've said. It's the same on the majority of HTC handsets too.

Damn it......that's not the answer I wanted to hear!

Looks like we may be stuffed.......someone needs to write a PS3 controller HAL driver set!

I know it is not the rom. I didn't have problems with it on other emulators (FPSEce) but haven't tried it on epsxe. i had a memcard from the winmo emulator that i was able to transfer my save from disc 3. but i would like to play through again for the 50th time :). Hopefully it will be fixed with an update. An alternate sound plug in would be nice so we have music in FMV's too

This is a problem with mulittouch and the y-axis on HTC devices. If 2 points on the same axis is touched it takes the middle point. This is why the virtual pad is able to be positioned in the bottom for the d-pad and top for the button pad. If you haven't tired, chang this in settings, it should make the difference for you.

I'm running JRummy's Rom, 1 ghz on a droid 1. Playing FF7 and it is extremely laggy at times. The sound is very choppy during battles and sometimes while walking around, almost makes the game unplayable because it is so annoying. But I give credit to the dev cause it's awesome just to say I have FF7 on my phone! Anyone running custom overclocked rom on droid 1 and have the same experience as me or does it run smooth for you?

Can't say much about the droid1 over clocked (different phone), but overclocking does make it run smoother for me. here are a few things that may help
Have you set the sound to mono instead of stereo?
Playing without sound will speed up a little but defeat what your trying to get
make sure you have no other memory hog apps running, if you do kill them.
i'll ask my buddy who has a droid1 and see if i can get an answer for you!
