Camera Focus

Has anyone been able to get the camera to focus on small items? I was trying to take a picture of a praying mantis on a flower today and could not get it to focus on the insect. I tried different settings including macro and portrait etc... Anyone have any tips on how to get this camera to focus on an object this small?

Did you try clicking on the mantis on the touch screen, that focuses within the area that you click. I know it's simple, but a few people don't know about it.

Yes I tried that several times, my first thought. I think it kept focusing on things around it because the mantis was so skinny.

I would say you are correct, I've witnessed many cameras have issues focusing on small objects.

Try camera settings -> focus mode -> macro
