Does it make me a geek if...

HomePipe and Orb would be VPN's ?

In a way yes,

This is from wiki, might help people understand a bit more :)

A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that uses a public telecommunication infrastructure, such as the Internet, to provide remote offices or individual users with secure access to their organization's network. It aims to avoid an expensive system of owned or leased lines that can be used by only one organization. The goal of a VPN is to provide the organization with the same secure capabilities but at a much lower cost.

In computing, Virtual Network Computing (VNC) is a graphical desktop sharing system that uses the RFB protocol to remotely control another computer. It transmits the keyboard and mouse events from one computer to another, relaying the graphical screen updates back in the other direction, over a network.

So yes Homepipe would be a kind of VPN, Orb more or a Media Stream, that kinda uses VPN.

The VNC server is FREE, to control the phone....

Its only the professional Remote Desktop Software that costs...

And yea if you use it as a Cable feature then its like mymoblier, but this can also be used over wifi there fore its a proper vnc :)

how did you get the IP of your phone? I could not find the menu that gave me mine.

i guess i could be wrong since i have not used it in a while .. ill try it later and report back

edit: it seems it was only a trial even though it never told me that

why not just vnc or RD into the computer that is playing music? and BTW ipchicken.com will tell you your ip with out having to install an app
