If you file a police report, make sure you have the serial numbers ready. If you do, they can place the S/N in the stolen property database. If some jackass is caught buying/selling it, they get a free trip to the pokey.
Yep, I'd file a police report just for this reason. You can get your serial number from the box, if you still have it.
It does 2 things. One, pawn shops have to check the stolen records database when they buy stuff to make sure it wasn't stolen. If it was, they report it to the police.
Second is that if someone tries to activate the phone on their line, Verizon will catch them. I think you have to call Verizon and send them the police report for this. I am not 100% sure how it works cause I have never done it, but a friend did with his BB.
