I currently own a LG Rumor (lol), I've had it for almost 2 years now, have been planning on getting an EVO when my contract is up, which will be early September. I'm actually eligible for an upgrade now, so I started looking for an EVO, with no luck :P Started looking online, and found out about the Epic. Really looking forward to getting it now. I've never used swype or anything, heck, never used Android before, and I'm sure I probably wont need to use the keyboard that much, but I like having the option. Especially for playing emulators and stuff. Now if only they would give a release date :( So excited I can barely wait.

I just cant trust Samsung after I had the Instinct, but that physical keyboard does look nice. Still I'm happy with my EVO.

Ok.. everybody says they dont like the keyboard.. well theres always inscreen multitouch.. swype.. then slide out.... what the epic stands out is super amoled screen.. dlna stream to dlna tvs.. and did i mention super amoled? Personally i think that the keyboard isnice to have... but if u work alot in the rough and tough.. the more moving parts.... the more chances of failure.

I personally never grew fond of samsung products... as far as mobile phones go

DLNA is a series of wifi protocol layers ... it's software. The Evo can get dlna compliance with apps like iMediashare.

I would choose the Epic over the Evo on Hardware specs. But as far as Samsung support goes, I think I'll take my chances on the Evo, until Samsung proves they are commited to after-sales support of their products.

Super amoled alone isnt enough to make me to switch to samsung.. no way no how. Ill say itll be... 3 or 4 months before those things start falling apart. Plus my days of a physical keyboard pretty much ended with the tp2 and the introduction of swype.

I got an email from Sprint this morning annoucing that the Epic is being released on 8/31 for $249. I'll stick with the Evo and save $50.

Who is going to get the Epic? Its tempting isnt it? Given the shortages of the EVO, selling it on EBAY should be easy.....

My phone prior to my Hero was Samsung - it was garbage. My wife's phone prior to getting my hand-me-down Hero? Samsung. It was also garbage. Was at Sprint repair several times (all after the initial 30 days of course) so she opted to take my Hero after only 6 months of her phone. I'll never buy another Samsung phone - ever. HTC's quality is SOOO far above Samsung I wouldn't even consider the Epic.

After having a samsung instinct... i dont think i will ever want another samsung phone again... lol. I love my 52" samsung tv but i dont care for their phones.

And the Evo is the best damn phone i ever had. Its probably going to be a long time before i upgrade because this phone is so sweet.

Aside from screen getting dust under it on a few htc devices, as well as some evo speific issue like crap display drivers, screen damn near falling off on some evo's out of the box, and the brittle camera lenses they use. But yeah htc is so much better than samsung.

Give me a break, neither company is better than the other.

I have been working on these two devices (EVO and EPIC) for few months now. I would say the following:
- EVO > EPIC: YouTube (HQ on EPIC, you need to bring up the Menu option. EPIC did not utilize the entire screen during playback)
- EPIC > EVO: Camera and Camcoder (the picture and sound qualities are better on EPIC)
- EPIC > EVO: Battery Life (EPIC turns out to be better)
- Others (no comment): base on your personal preference such as UI, Kick-stand, Look-and-feel casing, keyboard, etc.

Do you guys really think Samsung isn't going to support this phone? They're releasing it (Galaxy S) on all major carriers, there's no way it will get the same treatment as the Instinct or any other crappy Samsung phone you may have had in the past. I think this is them trying to truly put themselves on the map as far as mobile phones go.

Ok i rarely play games on my phone, i usually play gbcoid or gameboid for some pokemon, so is the epic's processor gonna make that much of a difference with those emulators? Also is the screen so much better that its a decision factor. TBH if neither of these are major im going to the EVO!
