Root Evo Port Test ROMs | Droid Incredible

i get sooo many fc's :(

Unfortunately, my mind reading skills are a little rusty.

Like going to a mechanic and saying, "my car has so many problems" and walking away, all I can do is shrug my shoulders.

Help me, help you. You need to be specific. The more specific, the more likely I can help you.

I agree with posting a link for just beta 4 for frankenrom because I seriously love this ROM & have no need for all of the ROMs together.

Also, I just want to point out that, over on XDA, they posted a theme from the EVO that works amazingly with this rom..Anybody running beta 2 & up should take a look (just make sure to do a Nandroid backup first in case you don't like it).

I can has link? For the Evo theme I mean... I like having all the roms together, it makes it more fun. For me at least.

Agreed though I would prefer Senseless b4. It sounds like if you get the one for all and whittle away at it for a while you can get it to senseless frankenrom b4 and then you can't go back which is fine with me because that is what I want but I'd rather not DL and install something that big to get to the one I want.

Has anyone been able to manually change their boot animation while running this rom? Does it work differently since it's an EVO port? I tried adb pushing to system/customize/resource, saw the file size message, but when I rebooted, saw the same stock boot animation. Can someone please help?

If this has been addressed already, my apologies. Please point me to the post to look at.

I am running senseless b3, it's very easy to install, seriously, just follow adryns directions and it really is that easy.

I will say that I had some sdk and adb experience going into it from doing bootanimations for my phone, but with that said, my DInc is my first rooted phone and everything I have done is coming from a noob skill level. A little research and a whole lotta balls goes a long way.

I copied and pasted this from somewhere on here but forgot where, I do this for a lot of stuff so I can easily find it. This only works for Frankenrom.

Open cmnd prompt and navigate to your sdk tools folder

store the boot animation on root of your sdcard

then

Code:

adb reboot recovery

Code:

adb shell

on your phone go to partions mount the /system and /sdcard
the bootanimation file is in /system/media

and I wasn't sure if moving replaced the old one or not so I delete it

Code:

rm /system/media/bootanimation.zip

then copy the file from you sd card

Code:

cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip

cp /sdcard/android_audio.mp3 /system/media/android_audio.mp3

The code for android_audio is only if you are adding audio, if you aren't you will want to remove the stock audio.

Do this by using the following code

rm /system/media/android_audio.mp3

Props to whoever it was that originally wrote this, wasn't me. I take no credit. All I did was add the audio part.

Thanks. I'll try this out again when I get home. I did everything above except for manually deleting the original boot animation before pushing the new one. Also, on the Inc, isn't it called VZW_bootanimation.zip, or is that a Skyraider thing only...? Used to have that rom. Of course, that would explain my difficulties right there, lol.

Here is the link for the EVO theme itself (which only works with EVO framework, so if you want to run it for us, you need to be running frankenrom b2 or up): [THEME] 8/11/2010 Manup456 The EVO Collection 2.2 UPDATED =) - xda-developers

Here is the link where I found this works (they have a ported version that works for non-frankenrom froyo's, haven't tried, know nothing about it): [REQ] Porting Manup456's EVO Themes - xda-developers

I am running the EVO version right now, works well, although it added a couple of evo apps (like its voicemail) & I had to just redo GPS settings, but everything (as far as I can tell) works fine...Definately do a Nandroid backup before trying, just in case a)you don't like it b)it doesn't work right on your incredible

I was running b3 from the individual link. I haven't done much in adb or sdk but I feel like that wouldn't be a problem if I had a computer capable of it. My work computer locks me out of the command prompt for anything but the network drives and my home computer doesn't have internet and I don't want to tether something that big. I guess what I am saying is if you know you just want the bottom rung then it doesn't make sense to grab the whole ladder. It is a whole lot you have to store that you won't use. However, there seems to be some advantages to this one like less stuff left out some of which I would like to have back but the patches aren't made for each version so it is hit and miss as to what will work and what will sacrifice stability. So it would be nice to have b3 with the extras and the ability to modify as desired mostly meaning cutting less but still being rid of at least most of the system draining battery vampire called Sense.

What do you mean by redo GPS settings? Turning location on/off? And I assume you're using frankenrom w/sense?

When you installed the manup theme did you flash it from zip like a Rom or some other way?

Edit: Me thinks I've figured it out, will report back once I've had a chance to test er out.

I'm trying to figure out what are the major framework differences between b2 & b4 so I can see if I can get Super Circle Battery working.

Visually from a quick look, it doesn't look like much. So it doesn't make since that it works with b2 but not b4.

Please do, I miss my little circle battery with numbers in it.

Shouldn't be any differences.

From b1 there are, but not from b2-b4.

I will be releasing Frankenrom b5 here soon. Lets see if it works on there.

could you also add in what the changes are from each beta. I am still confused as whats different in b3 and b4 from b2

Loving this ROM still. Using ManUp's theme from evo to and it looks sick!

Great job and keep up the good work!

Only FC I get is on gallery but apparently that's because of the espresso bar. :( looks so much better then regular bar tho so I'll suffer with the work around.

I think a changelog would be cool if you have time in all the craziness that has ensued because of your ROMs lol

OK, not looking for a fix, I will assume that that when I get the chance to flash from "One ROM" I'll have no worries....
Also, I am going to assume that my issues may have something to do with not wiping the phone first.
Just here to report my success and then failure with FrankenROM b2 (with sense)

Step 1: upgrade hboot (0.79)
Step 2: unrevoked3 to root the phone.
Step 3: (much later): unrevoked forever for s-off
Step 4: upgrade radio to 2....something (75)? (Don't have my phone with to get the exact version.
Step 5: flash FrankenROM b2 (without wiping.)
Step 6: Enjoy Froyo goodness.
Step 7: repeat step 6 for about a week.
Step 8: FC on nearly every app, and many system functions. Constant FC for just about anything I tried to do. ((Last night.))
Step 9: nand restore.
Step 10: weep as my apps, contact list and settings disappear.
Step 11: Factory restore (from clockwork)
Step 12: Try to decide between waiting for official OTA, or grab One ROM...

Now, I do have a question after all of this.
In your collective opinions , gentle readers, should I downgrade the radio? If so, should I go to the earlier 2.x or to 1.x? And if 1.x should I also downgrade my hboot?

Thanks in advance for not flaming my stupidity of not wiping before flashing the ROM, especially when the instructions clearly stated the need.:(

((ETA: fixed numbering of steps))

I'm about to the point of downgrading my radio from 2.15 to 2.0 because my up AND down 3G speeds tanked. Must notably the uploads. As far as I know, you can only flash the 1.x radio then apply the 2.0 update. The 2.0 update only patched the radio, it wasn't a full image. Of course, if someone has a full image of the 2.0 radio, I'd love to have a copy:D.
