Trillian for android

will be testing this tomorrow when I'm away from my computer.
I've been using trillian on pc for as long as I can remember and was ecstatic when it was announced for android. will see how it compares against ebuddy, which i've been using.

Testing it out now.

EDIT: First impressions. It's beautiful, I can change my icon, status doesn't show goofy ads like eBuddy, it shows the latest message from chats IN the buddy list, and did I mention it looks awesome?

If the battery life is decent, this is THE app for your IM needs.

Must agree, if battery drain is decent, this would appear at first impression, to be the best android multiIM client.

Sends pics (as links after uploaded) like beejive does on iphone. Doesn't look like you can TAKE a picture within a chat, but only select from previously taken pics. Still better than any others so far.

I can't figure out this app, can you import buddy lists from yahoo/aim/etc or do I have to try to manually add every single person?

So far it is nice. Only been using it an hour. Like it so far. Don't like that i can't change the alert sound. Or that i can't change colors or fonts or anything. But it is beta, still time to grow. Like it overall

not too impressed yet, thankfully it's beta. Won't send many of my messages. Really annoying. I can send 3 or 4 in a row, and like only the last 2 or 3 will send...

What protocol? I was using ICQ last night, and chatted back and forth at least a few pages worth, and even sent a picture. I like how you can even see the other person typing with the "..." that pops up.

As for colors/fonts things like that, while nice, I would consider them at the bottom of the list of important things to get "right" for this app. Today should be a decent test of battery life. I'll have System Panel running to monitor.

Its a barcode, get barcode scanner from the Market (its free), open barcode scanner and point the camera at the box, it gives the link (+ the ability to share the link etc).

So far Trillian seems decent to me, no problems in Facebook or MSN chat.

any update on battery life? i want to try this but minimum battery consumption is the #1 priority here

This is very "Alpha" information, but based on some chatting last night and what I've seen today for the first few hours being unplugged. over the last 8 hours trillian has used 18s of CPU. which is less than swype, doggcatcher, pinchat and systempanel itself.

Initial feeling is battery life is good. I've chatted only a bit on it this morning though.

HOLY FC batman...

Not sure what happened but I can't get it to do anything now. I was going to send a buddy a picture via gtalk within trillian. Opened the app, selected his name and FC... Now I am FCing trying to open any chat.

The frustrating thing for me, is that I keep my phone on while I'm at the computer. With Trillian, I've noticed an oddity -- sometimes messages I'm sent don't show up on my comp (i'm logged into my gmail acct and don't get chats people send, sometimes, they get stolen by the trillian app).

Anyone have thoughts on how to fix that, or if that is just the nature of trillian?

The notifications also seemed weird -- the timing was off, compared to when I had been using fring for aim.

I love Trillian so far. Battery life is not that bad at all especially compared to Nimbuzz. It's by far my favorite multi-client IM app and it's only a beta :D

I wont be able to be a good judge of battery life have the 3500 seidio battery...yeah I know it's huge.

Off topic I know, but how is that battery? Is it true you can't charge it in the phone as you would the OEM battery, or can you actually treat it as you would any stock battery?

Ebuddy never let my phone sleep while signed in. I have only had this program for about a half hour, but tested it, and its letting my phone sleep, while still being able to receive messages. If this is the case, I am a very happy trillian user.

I haven't really seen any battery issues, and my phone sleeps just fine. For around six hours of use, it hasn't shown up under my battery usage.

Ya, I'm quoting myself :-/ I ended up creating a new "astra" account after multiple uninstall/reinstalls did NOT fix my FC problem. Creating a new account and adding my IM accounts is now working again. Not sure if somehow my original 'profile' got screwed up or what, but the app was UNUSABLE until I registered a new account.

Other than that rather large hiccup, this is the best Multi-IM client we have right now IMHO.

I use trillian astra for my desktop and this one looks good; but I too have had a few force closes so I uninstalled it for now. I don't need it bad enough to deal with that; most of my contacts use google talk which is extremely efficient on android for now.

Ill revisit once it mellows out.

This thing is practically nonexistent in terms of battery. Barely a minute of cpu time, zero partial wake showing in Spare Parts.

Only issue is an occasional fc and sometimes it takes a bit after selecting a contact for the window to open. Guys, this thing is legit. For a beta, it's amazing. If the final version fixes the few bugs, it'll be flawless.
