Hello everyone

I just got the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S yesterday and my worst nightmare has come true.

I have sensitive eyes and keep brightness on all my equipment at the lowest level. I had asked someone before buying this phone and he told that it is manageable but now I find out that the screen is way toooo bright even at the lowest setting!

It strains the eyes + drains the battery.

Suppose we are not connected to internet through any source. Then if we refresh any widget we get the error "Please check your network access" and the screen goes dull in background. Now thats the perfect setting I would like for the phone.

Any idea how we can reduce the brightness even further through Mod or through factory settings or somehow?

I would really appreciate any help on this one.

Regards.

Alternatively if nothing is possible then I would have to look for a screenguard which is tinted so that its easy on the eyes. Anyone has any idea whether such kinds are available for high end phones?

@ above all

Thanks for replying.

Yes I have unchechecked the automatic option in the settings and the brightness level is set to minimum. Even the brightness level in browser is set to minimum.

I have read on net that default for Android even on Minimum is 8% while some apps such as "dimmer" would make you go 0%. I am assuming quick settings would do the same. But have read that its only marginally better. :(

Since I got the phone just yesterday I havent yet checked the android market and will have to check these applications for sure.

But I was hoping there would be an option to change stuff from the codes and service menu but I guess its not the case. So anyone knows from where to get tinted screen protectors for the phone!!? :D

Regards

I am trying to get my sgs to work with vodafone gprs from long time but never seem to work. I have tried difference versions of following APN configurations.

Name: Vodafone live
APN: portalnmms
IP address: 10.10.1.100
Port: 9401
Username:< blank>
Password:< blank>

Please let me know if somebody has working configuration.

^^ This should work in the browser.. Won't work with apps.. For that you need Vodafone's overpriced Mobile Connect plan.. Vodafone SUCKS!

Hi Pradeep, you can't do anything except using the browser with Vodafone GPRS as Kalpik says. And the fact is your Galaxy S is almost useless without a proper internet connection. You can't even use the default calendar too ! So, buy a wireless router. Go for Netgear...it has automatic configuration wizard...very easy to setup. It's not too costly....around 1300-1500/-.
Guess, you are from/near Kolkata.... Is it ?
