About KIES :
Sometimes it creates problems and sometimes not...myself never had any issue with KIES.
Windows 7 has much more powerful driver compatibility than XP.

Ok, just joined this site, and good to see Indian thread!

Got my phone last night!

a) Packing contains - Phone, Datacable, Warranty Cards, Headphones, Charger.

Was surprised to see no tv out..

The phone is of 16 gb and costed me around 28000 with insurance!

1 year warranty.

Impression.

Samsung should learn to provide with a software which is comptaible with the phone on any given operating system, but never mind, the phone being of such excellent features, one should really appreciate what he or she gets than what one doesn't get.

Could manage to download kies from samsung's site and installation of kies takes quite some time as it installs, dot net framework with all the extra files needed to execute the program.

Manged to synchronise my contacts, the phone is MIND BOGGLING in using it !

never lagged even once, phone is good, and complete worth the money..

I've used nokia phones, the apple phones, and many other high end phones, but this is THE BEST PHONE I'VE EVER USED!

I am now hunting to install some good applications,

If someone could reply back which would be the best one with good features, do write..

And yeah, can someone explain how to change the ringtones???

I've saved a few on the memory of the phone, i.e., the onboard memory...

so if someone could be kind enough to brief how to make a particular clip as ringtone, it'd be appreciated...

For all those looking for a screen protector, order this: GadgetShieldz for Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Covers,Screen Protectors,Skins,Cases,Shields | Full-Body Invisible Shields,Cases

Its awesome! And will be delivered next day :)

i guess i'll order this but install just the back part of it! have already installed scratchgard for the front.. cant believe i paid 300 bucks for just the front thing when i could have got gadgetshieldz for a bit more! anyways will keep the front thing which comes with it as a backup.. btw it looks almost the same as invisible shield!

Yes, its the same as Zagg! And i'd suggest you even replace the front! This thing is awesome! :)

Takes a bit of time to install though! Be patient!

Ok, I think I should post a tutorial here on how to apply GadgetShieldz.

1. Take a bowl (big one, which can totally submerge GadgetShieldz). Fill it with some water.
2. Put some liquid soap (dettol or whatever, just no shampoo) into the bowl. Just enough to make the water a little cloudy, and so that the water becomes a bit slippery.
3. Make sure your hands and the phone surface are SUPER clean, and that you have a lint-free cloth with you. DO NOT use a towel!
4. We will apply the back part first, since it is more difficult. Take out the back cover of the phone so that you can apply this without any fear of getting water into the phone. This will also prepare you for installing the front part.
5. Submerge the back gadgetshieldz into the soapy water, and remove the back paper part inside the water itself. Take out the gadgetshieldz and remove extra water from the sticky side by sliding your finger across it.
6. Align the shield onto the back of your phone. You can remove and re-apply while the skin is wet. You can also slide the skin on the phone to make it aligned. Once in position, use a credit card to remove any bubbles. Make sure you stroke the card in a direction where its shortest to reach the edges. So like you have to stroke along the breadth.
7. The sides are more difficult to apply, use the inside of your palm to hold the sides in position. If the sides are too wet, let them dry a bit and then apply pressure using inside of palm. You can also use a hair dryer on MINIMUM heat to help it dry and stick quickly.
8. Applying the back is kinda tough, so don't lose patience! Applying the front is much easier I promise!
9. Now make sure your phone is OFF. Take the front shield and remove the back paper inside the water, and remove extra water with your finger, just like we did earlier.
10. Apply the shield on the front, and stroke with a credit card AWAY from the ports and openings on the phone, and to the nearest edge. Wipe with the lint-free cloth on the edges to soak the extra water. Try and get as little water as possible near the phone openings.
11. Once this is done, leave the phone to dry and DO NOT switch it on!
12. You can switch on the phone after 12 hours or so. I personally switched on my phone in 2-3 hours as I knew I did not get even one drop of water into the phone :)
13. The shield will look kinda bad initially, but after 1-2 days it will smooth out, and all small bubbles will go away! Also, the rubbery sticky feeling of the skin will go away, and you will be able to swype smoothly after 3-4 days :)

If you guys have any questions, let me know!

No.. Chrome isn't covered.

Thats perfect.. so like you said we can remove the back cover for applying it.. and since im not going to do the front part right away, i can be at peace about not messing up my phone due to contact with water! i guess water and mobiles are not the best of friends! ;)

^^ True! Even I was very scared of using water! But really, its not a big deal! You will know once you apply the back cover. After applying that, you will know exactly how much water to easily apply the front piece :)

I have a Samsung Galaxy I9000. I have tried connecting the same by configurating the VPN settings on the Android Phone running 2.1 version. But I am unable to connect to the VPN servers. It says connection failed. Server Disconnected. Please check fiirewall setting.

I am not running any firewall on the phone.

The connection used in WIFI connection to connect to the internet.

Can anybody help me ? When I use the VPN is my PC, it is getting connected.

It's a better option to create ringtones on your pc/laptop. You can put some beautiful effects on it...you can amplify the db, hard limit the clipped (which has amplitude more than 0 db creates distortion and it's called clipped sound) sound, reduce the noise, also equalize (4k-22k) the sound data to enrich the sound quality...there are many softwares to do it...you can use a very good freeware for it:
.
Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
