Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

Hello everybody,
I just upgraded my Galaxy S firmware to DDJG4 through Kies. Unfortunately after the upgrade, when I put the phone on Vibrate mode, it does not even vibrate on Calls or messages. I have tried all ways in settings to click on Vibrate for incoming calls but still it does not vibrate at all.

Any idea what needs to be done?? Please help!!!

I have the same firmware and I vibrate works fine for me. Are you sure you don't have vibrate intensity on 0?

Have you used any lagfix? Try restarting ur phone.
Goto to settings>wireless and network>wi-fi settings>Press menu>advance settings> enter all the ip settings manually.
Then try to connect ur phone. Soemtimes if the DNS server is off on the router then router is not able to provide any ip address to the phone. sometimes it gets stuck there.
U might be using your PC or laptop by connecting through wi-fi. Use those settings on the phone.
Also ensure if you are not using any MAC filtering on your router.Its a good security measure BTW.
If these things doesnt work and you are brave enough to flash through odin then flash DDJG4 again. BUT be careful you might brick your phone.

Thats very unfortunate. I hope this issue gets sorted. How did this happened suddenly? Any bad flash?

Should there be a green light on the second APN a well?

Clicking AirTelMMS i get to the edit access point page



I dont know what im doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Buddy green light means you have selected that apn and that apn is working.
Try selecting airtelmms apn. Click on the radio button next to it to select it. Then try resending the mms. It should work coz ur settings are fine.

there is no way to select the MMS apn.
i click on it and it goes to edit....
the only options i get by clicking on the menu key are
new apn and reset to default

there is no radio button because it does not make sense to "select" a mms-only apn as default because you can't connect to the net using that :) the phone should use the mms-only apn for mms data automatically.

Nickporwal do you have two green lights?

What are the APN types for both of them ?

Ok i created another apn now i have two radio buttons but i can only select one or the other . not the two together

Nohh ! Phone was working perfectly ! That means no software problem. Only the display has gone. Don't know why mate...I'm not liking they would repair my set....hope they will replace it :(
Anyway, from today my Netgear router (as you suggested) is waiting for the device :(

Any apps you want to download just put an extension ".apk" with it and google it....you will get the link.
For example...if you want to download handcent sms...just google "handcent sms.apk". That's it.
Besides that there are many forums as Snapper.fishes has said. Though if you search frequently using the trick I said you will find those forums very soon :)

I only get the radio button on AirtelMMs when i select apn type as Internet and MMS

Still no MMS...
Aaargghh this is driving me nuts

I have vodafone connection. I had a talk with vodafone technical manager...he told me not to touch the APN Type...that will be automatically updated....and later it comes true :)

try these apn settings manually..

Name : Mobile Office
Apn : airtelgprs.com
Proxy : not set
Port : not set
Username : not set
Password : Not set
Server : not set
MMSC : not set
MMS proxy : not set
MMS Port : not set
MCC : 404
MNC : 92
Authentication type : none
Apn type : Internet+MMS

i think ur apn type was just internet and not internet+mms.. also ur apn should be airtelgprs.com and not airtel.gprs.com

keep the green dot on mobile office only.. and wait for sometime for the internet to get activated.. it doesnt happen instantly..

Aah sorry that was a typo the gprs settings are fine

My internet is fine...It is the MMS that i cant get to work.
Did a default reset and fed the APNs manually, Left the Apn Type alone and didn't set it as mamababu suggested. Saved the Apn and i had two radio buttons. Green on mobile office and grey on MMS


Rebooted tried to send an mms and nope didn't work
checked the APN types they are Internet+MMS for both APNs.
If i select the MMS apn type as MMS the radio button disappears is what i have noticed.

Can you please tell me the radio button status for your APNs
Also what APN type you have selected.

I think i will have to visit samsung today.

When i bought the cell, I had sent MO as an SMS to 543210 for receiving the settings via message.. then ran the configuration message that i received from Airtel.. I just have one APN.. the mobile office one.. the settings in my previous post is the one that i have currently..

Pls share your expertise in resolving this issue of my Phone not vibrating on any mode. I tried installing Sound Manager application and pressing the Up/Down Volume buttons to set to Vibrate. It shows in the notification area that it is set to vibrate but it doesnt vibrate for any calls or messages.

@Kalpik or @ saj_2001ind - Please help if anything needs to be done to resolve this......pls...

in settings, for vibration intensity try changing it value in doing so the phone does vibrate to show you how intense it is , do you feel the vibration there ?

if in settings it works then try changing your ringtone to some pre defined ones of samsung rather than your custome then put the phone to vibrate mode and see if it works ...

if none of these works for you then I am afraid I cant think of any solution ... may be try a factory reset but you will loosee all ur data...

any other members here pls suggest...
 
guys one bugging trouble i hav i activated my internet connection on airtel GPRS i can get gmail emails on fone check maps real time but i cant loggin to android market or other gmail features or IMs i get an error :
" "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. this could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call customer care.""
 
Guys upgraded my firmware to JG4 and voila the MMS magically works.

Thank you all that tried to help.
I am finding JG4 far more responsive and way less laggy so finally I can rest for a while now.
