You need to be rooted to take screen shots with an app. You can use the SDK to take screen shots though a computer also.

Thanks for the quick reply. I need to ask now what is "rooted"? I am new to the Android system and got my first Droidx yesterday. I am loving it so far and glad I found this site.

You do NOT need to be rooted to get screen shots. I am not rooted and have put up plenty of them. Here's one place with instructions. It seems complicated, but it's not that hard.
