I set mine to september 12th, so far, nothing. All you do is go to Date and Time in settings and change it, not so hard

EDIT: it went back to today's time less than a minute after changing, wow
I set my date a month out and an update notice appeared in the notification bar!!!
It was just for an app :-(

The Android community is really geeky with rooting, ROMs, and other stuff, yet NO ONE has made the OTA update.zip file available for download yet? On the entire internet?

You mean the,

RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.21.605.1_Radio_2.15.00.07.28_2k4k_NV_1.50_PRL58006_release_143351_signed.exe

, 8/26 file so you can go from 2.1 to 2.2 yourself instead of waiting for the OTA?

Not the same thing. Different update process.

RUU is an updater that in the process of updating wipes the phones data.
OTA process does not wipe the phones data.

Most non-technical people would prefer to not deal with backing up and restoring data after an update. Even some technical people would prefer the OTA for that reason.

So the comment, no one has provided the update.zip file (from the OTA) is accurate at the moment.

Backing up your data is always a good idea... though before any update.

Most people are reporting better results with the RUU. I just posted a Quadrant Score of 1365. I've done 3 of them today...1313, 1320, & 1365 Nothing has been under 1300 yet. I'm really impressed.

EDIT: Check the Official 2.2 Discussion post for proof...I posted a pic a little bit ago.

Mine was already wiped from removing root/2.2 leak, so not waiting for the OTA and updating through link was better.

Either way I dont see what folks have that there are not wanting to wipe. Honestly I like a fresh start and besides everything was saved on my SD card anyway. Im guessing people dont want to go through the setup process while i really dont mind.

As for being tech. im not and i was able to wam bam my way through, but different strokes for different folks is cool. I just didnt understand at first.

I manually set my date 3 weeks from now and when I did I got the little triangle in the status bar and it said new htc widgets available. It was the sand timer widget. Strange that that would happen. Then I tried it again and it said swift key beta was expiring or something.. Weird.

*EDIT* - i'm also noticing a lot of the bloatware is CONTINUOUSLY running itself even after task killer gets rid of it. I will hit my ATK, and within 30 secs i go back in, and VZ Nav is running again, Skype, and a bunch of other junk that i closed just before.

this is the exact reason why i took my stock incredible and rooted it while in the process of loading the official ruu.

those who haven't rooted but loaded the official via ota or manual install may be waiting a while for root so they can disable or remove the bloatware. it may not be that long for root to come, but i decided to do it all at once. :)

I hope to shed a little bit of light on how these rollouts usually work:

The reason for a rollout like this is to keep congestion down. This we all know. Because of this, rollouts are usually NOT done regionally. You can still only put so much traffic on a tower, and if you were to rollout to a whole region, you're still causing congestion, which is counter-productive since the whole reason you're doing the staggered rollout is to NOT have congestion.

It's usually done that the carrier decides how long they want the rollout to last, and how much congestion they feel their towers can handle at any certain time so as not to affect other service. Based on these factors, they choose X amount of people per area to receive the update at certain intervals. So, there's really no rhyme or reason as to who receives the update first.

This way, congestion is spread out more evenly across their servers, and they are not jamming up towers with everyone in one area trying to update their phones. The people that are chosen to receive the update within each batch per region IS RANDOM. It doesnt have to do with your SSN, your Phone #, how long you've been a Verizon customer, how many kids you have, how many miles you drive in your daily commute or whatever other random reason you could think of lol

Even though we feel like we are a large group, you've got to remember that in the whole scheme of people out there that own Dincs, we're a very small community, and that is probably why it seems like it's "taking so long" for this update to roll through. There's much more of us out there than we think!

With all of these questions and theories about how the rollout is working, I guess I must have been typing to myself with this one...

I'm hoping that somebody has received the update by now! Somebody? Anybody? Update?

Hey just to give you some more info, I was told that there will not be 2.2 software pushes over the weekend, and that Monday they will go from 10,000 per day (yesterday) to 100,000 DINC Froyo 2.2 pushes. This is the same reliable source I used to break this news. I was also told that by Friday next week they expected to be pretty much done, but that it could change slightly. It is possible some got it today, but it is my understanding they were selected from Friday's 10k push. Hope this helps... the OP

ugh...been waiting for this, have not rooted. Would like to get rid of bloatware once i get this update, will that be possible right away? I would always update and install leaked blackberry hybrids, but this seems a bit more complicated

Got the OTA update when I woke up today at about 11am. I'm in SoCal north of San Diego. Went to bed at around 4:00am, so the OTA came sometime between 4am and 11am to my phone. I don't notice anything different, except that the screen rotates both ways now, and the VZ apps they added obviously, and just changed all my apps to update automatically. Speed wise it seems exactly the same.

do you have the zip in /cache still? some people in the root community are wanting it if you could share it.

Does anyone know if this update includes any HTC fixes as well, like the call quality?

Although, I havent been having as bad of an issue as I used to.
