Froyo results RUU Leak vs Official OTA release

I installed the RUU and used App Manager to back up my apps. I have noticed 4 applications so far that it did not back up out of about 75. Apps purchased through Android Market can be downloaded from Market and installed again without repayment. Apps re-installed with App Manager are no longer connected to Market thus no update notification for those apps. I may reinstall them from Market just to get that connection again. If you have your contacts and calendar in your Gmail account, then once you have configured that account again on your phone, it will push your contacts and calendar events back to the phone. I synced with HTC Sync for contacts and calendar for redundancy but did not need to invoke a restore sync from HTC Sync since gmail did the job.

I catch myself slightly tilting the phone to the right and it quickly goes to the right side landscape mode. Training issue on my part not to do that.

Got 1173 on Quadrant score, did not check before move to 2.2.

Have connected my bluetooth headset but have not tried BT dialing yet.
Phone call quality does not seem to have been corrected and no mention of it in the list of fixes in the Verizon upgrade documentation.

Do not see any improvement in phone signal bar indication.

Do not see any battery life improvement as I had already done all the mods listed on the forum which greatly inhanced battery life already.

On the good side, there are some great new features such as Flash support and see no backward steps in the build. Overall good job HTC, they made an already great device better.
 
My guess is the RUU version will result in better general performance, since starting from a clean slate with a significantly different OS version.

I posted about this in the rooted section. I think Quadrant is biased when people do concurrent tests without backing out of the app. True reality based scores are probably better served when backing out of the app and killing it- then retest. Average difference for me was over 100 points higher (not backing out and killing) testing with 2.1, Sky 2.52 Sense, Stock 2.2, stock kernels and BFS kernel.

Yep, only difference is one way you start fresh and the other depends on how much junk you have that might be weighing your device down. Most problems and complaints about sluggish devices or other issues will be the people that did the OTA, but that is the normal process for getting it.

BTW, 1173 Quadrant score is about right. People getting the fatter scores are running concurrent tests while still in the app. Cleaner score will be by backing out, killing the app and starting fresh. My average score was 1175 with stock kernel and (ATM) 1235 with BFS kernel. Both test series using rooted stock 2.2.

I got 100 to 250 points more running concurrent tests while still in the app. I suggest that method gives bogus results. Especially since not overclocked when doing the tests.
 
Im sorry if this has been asked but i am quite curious. If i install the RUU instead of waiting for OTA, will that void warranty? Will any tech even be able to ever tell?

No you will be fine. The only things you'd need to worry about is having the stock recovery and having it to S-ON.

personally though if you are worried about it, if you have S-OFF, it can be reversed, if you don't it cannot. Not too mention it's just as easy to turn it back to S-ON, so it is win win.


this is what I'm doing, I did S-OFF, ran the 2.2 RUU, and I'm using this until the 2.2 OTA is done, and then ill downgrade back to 2.1 to get the OTA.
 
If you havent used unrevoked forever(you havent) you are set to stock. that is, you are set to s-on. aka, security-on.
 
I installed the RUU Saturday and have been doing fine without issue. I have already rooted my phone before AND after...

Works great!
 
There is no difference in the 8/26 leaked RUU and the OTA according to the ones in the know over at xda.
I downloaded the RUU and flashed it off my xp netbook , and was up and running in 35 minutes. It works great and I don't have to waste any more time waiting on it. I have now what you are still waiting for and have my life back.
No more wasted time reading rumors and bs. It's easy , flash it. :)
 
Took me literally 4 minutes start to finish to install the RUU yesterday on my Windows 7 computer. I wanted to do a wipe anyway with this install and it worked out perfectly.
 
Yeah , when you do the wipe you cut down the chances of bugs and apps that might not be compatible.
 
I went ahead and rooted before installing the RUU (very easy) and ran unrevoked forever. I did that because then I could run a Titanium Backup before installing and then restore settings and data for my apps after reinstalling them from the market. I'm glad I didn't have to recreate all the settings etc.

Either way, I'm glad not to be playing the waiting game any more.

I had backed up my apps using Astro before running the RUU and have the same issue, the retstored apps are no longer "connected" with the Market. I also use AppBrain, and once I synced my phone with AppBrain the restored apps are able to be updated there.

Short of reinstalling the apps, does anyone know if there is any way to sync the restored apps with the Market?

I had the same problem as you guys and found a fix, open up your phone dialer and punch in this string of numbers

*#*#2432546#*#* which is actually *#*#checkin#*#*

you should see a message on your phone that says checkin successful, after that reboot your phone, check the market then and see if it worked I had to do it a couple of times but it did fix the problem, it updates your phone's fingerprint with the android market.
 
My Quadrant scores where: 1204, 1287, 1301, 1315, 1247.

I had stock 2.1. Used the update.zip file to manually update to 2.2.
