The little things...(2.2 Update addons/changes)

anyone else notice that you can't kill advanced task killer when it's checked? it stays open now....wtf

I saw a screen grab somewhere about this. They got rid of the button to hide the keyboard on the left, so the spacebar is bigger. I don't remember if they also got rid of a button on the right corner - I can't seem to find the picture I saw.

Here's a link with some other screen grabs and a description of the new features: Droid Incredible Froyo update: Benchmark, full details, screenshots (Update: Plus, a possible OTA date) | Android Central

Does anyone who got the PTA have a new keyboard? Mine didn't change at all.

I have a Flash update but it can't be found and clicking it in the appbrain window says it is not executable. How do I get Flash working?

Thanx In Advance!!!

No, the keyboard stayed the same as far as I can tell after having the OTA from the day it started getting pushed. That review was an earlier review of the RUU, not the OTA, so it was wrong. The 2.2 OTA they pushed to the Incredible did not remove the button that hides the keyboard (which I'm happy about, because I use that button a lot).

To answer the question one page back about one of the guys mentioning a bunch of different updates who claimed the lock screen and world clock show the exact battery percentage, I had the same question, that guy was wrong to. His post is like 2 pages back I think, but he was mistaken or mistyped meaning something else, neither of those screens show any battery percentage, you still need to download an app to see battery percentage at all. (which is stupid, this should be integrated into every version of android / sense / whatever, no arguments, it's useful and should be on every phone stock, but it's not)

As for Flash, I think if you have 2.2 it should just work automatically, you shouldn't have to download any update. I can confirm that it works automatically on my Incredible after the OTA, because I sometimes read news updates from motogp.com on my phone and I used to not be able to view the videos on there due to no flash with 2.1, but after the OTA all of the videos on motogp.com are working.

Small changes I noticed but not mentioned, they updated the shortcut buttons to turn on / off wifi, airplane mode, mobile, bluetooth, and gps. They just made them look a little different, cooler IMO. Also they added a few more of those settings shortcut buttons... Sync All, Ringtone, Profile, and I think maybe one more. Nice additions, but doesnt the phone sync regularly anyway?

Oh also, just another confirmation for those asking, yes you still need to bump charge to get a REAL full charge. This was not fixed, and I'm not sure if they can fix it. Signal seems the same to me as far as call quality / service goes. Which in my opinion has never been quite as good as any other phone I've had on Verizon, but whatever, I still love the phone.

its been metioned before in 2.2 threads, stop using task killers in Froyo. You dont need them anymore :)

What do you mean you have a Flash update?

What do you mean you have a Flash update?

AppBrain has an update listed that won't download. It just sits at the top of the list and won't do anything. Trying to launch it gives a pop up that it won't execute

I did find that I have Flash working on an Adobe test site, but that update just sits there....

what is different about the keyboard? Post before and after? The one thing I hate about it is the space bar...it needs to be larger. O and is it multi-touch?

i was using the compact qwerty cause the regular qwerty in is too small in portrait mode. they changed the compact qwerty and its SOOOOOO much better the moved the "XT9/ABC" key to the bottom left and speard it out more i havent hit the "XT9/ABC" by accident yet

I have noticed it takes longer to charge the phone. The speed of downloading apps is much faster. I also enjoy the 270 degree viewing.

is the charging glitch gone so we dont have to bump all the time?

thanks about the 270 now i can use my cheap-o 9.99 griffin travel stand as a night stand cause i have have the usb port up on top

It was me, I've been sending it out by PM like crazy. Wasn't sure if it was okay to post it.

im worried about getting killed by verizon for data charges...will you get busted???

i guess if you or anyone else doesnt know i could try it once or twice at the end of my bill cycle and see if there are any charges for tethering

Anyone notice how now with Froyo when connected to a computer (XP in this case) the phone mounts TWO drives now. The 1st is a drive labled "Verizon Mobile" which seems to contain the software for using phone as modem and then the 2nd drive which is the normal SD Card mount.

Anyone know a way to stop this from happening (I just want the SD Card mounted)

i always had this with 2.1 also. it mounts my phone's internal memory and the sd card

darn, hey didnt fix the call quality. I find myself, more and more, having to say "what? can you say that again?" to people im talking to. It's getting annoying..

The charging thing still seems to be there. I find the best way to charge to get full life is with all data off

Got my OTA update this morning. LauncherPro seems to be snappier. Another thing I noticed is that scrolling around in webpages (stock Internet) is a bit slower--not choppy or anything--just a tad slower with the same thumb swiping. It feels like I have to move my thumb a little faster to get the same speed as before. Could be imaging things but that's the "little thing" I noticed.

Not a big deal at all. Overall a very nice update. Truth is, with all the anticipation it doesn't seem like that major of an update. Not really going to change any of my habits or expectations with the phone. Perhaps with time the other goodies will come in handy.

Has anyone noticed a changes in the way mail is handled? Mail used to get saved on the device for X amount of days. Now, it seems when I delete the message from the server it is automatically getting removed from the mail app. This was not the case before.

not sure exactly what home screen you're talking about , but our version of froyo is designed 4 our incredibles with htc sense ui. It will not be the vanilla version they receive.

I have seen pictures of phones where the home screen layout buttons changed and now the internet was integrated.
They claim its not ADW or anything like that..

I think this is just an app brain bug.

So, its official then: the battery bump charge issue is a physical hardware limitation and not something any software can fix.
