What's more helpful is to not mislead people into thinking the ruu is any different than the update.zip which your posts insinuate. Do you for some reason think they're different?

Alright guys, lets keep the bickering to a minimum. I'm not pointing fingers, I just want to keep this thread helpful - especially since it looks like at least one other person encountered my exact situation.:cool:

That's fair, no bickering here. Just tying to cut down on the mis-information and potential anxiety for other users. :cool:
 
I'm not misleading anyone. And they are different. One wipes your phone completely the other doesn't. If you read some of my posts you'd see that I help a lot of people.

This is one of the things I've been debating about. I've always been a fan of doing clean installs when upgrading an OS for any hardware. My questions is, and I'm sorry if this is covered elsewhere, can I still achieve root doing the RUU install? I haven't done any ROM flashes so I haven't read up on the process in much detail
