The little things...(2.2 Update addons/changes)

i'd love to perform a factory reset just for shits and giggles.......

.....then i remembered on the Eris board how EVERYBODY praised it and said it fixed everything, so i did it, and my phone became even more of a piece of shit than it was. from that day on i vowed never to factory reset a phone again in hopes of it working lol. took forever to get all my stuff back and then it was acting up even worse than it did pre-setup.

I have noticed a difference in videos recorded outdoors in good lighting VS videos indoors in poor lighting. Outdoors videos look a lot better.

....i expected better quality than the other settings that came stock with the phone, as they make 720p out to be a great deal.

i tried my tests outdoors; that's where it looked bad

Well, thankfully this isn't an Eris:) I can't imagine how that could have caused more problems though. A factory reset takes everything back to the way it came from..well, the factory. It should have been essentially brand new ( you even have to go through the first run setup process. )

I really recommend you bite the bullet and go for it...what with all the issues you posted, especially the overheating...not doing so almost surely WILL lead to worse problems.

Actually i thought the quality is amazing. I recorded an hour of Avenged Sevenfold and while the audio sucks because it was really loud and bassy, the video is amazing. My roommate was blown away when i played it on my tv. The video looks really really good.

So far, my 2.2 (from doing the manual update.zip method) has been excellent. Good speed, no lag.

Here's one thing that change that I'm NOT happy about. In 2.1, there was an option in the Connect to PC area that allowed you to unmount the internal storage or the sdcard when you connected to a computer. This option is GONE in 2.2.

This affects me because I have Sync in my Ford, which can scan any USB drive for music. The problem is that the internal storage in the Incredible gets mounted first, meaning it can't see the SD card. In 2.1, if you used the "unmount internal storage" option, it would mount the SD card first and everything would be well. Now, in 2.2, there is seemingly no way to do this.

Unless I can find a way to change the order in which the Incredible mounts the two drives, I'm going to have to put all my music on the internal storage. That sucks because the internal storage is pretty small compared to my 16GB SD card.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I would love to hear it.

Has anyone doing the OTA update noticed a difference in call quality. I have good signal quality but the sound on my end of some calls is garbled. I have one of the pre-release date DINC's.

I had an email from HTC this past weekend saying that the fix should be included in the 2.2 update.

Haven't gotten my OTA update yet, so I don't have 2.2, but I'm really shocked to hear that I will still have to charge my battery before bed, turn the phone off when I wake up, turn it back on when my light goes green, then do the process over again...just like I have with 2.1. It just seems absurd? Can anyone tell me if this is still the case? Also, here's another question...when school starts up next week, I'll go back to having my 20 minute drive to work. If I were to just charge my phone at night and not bump charge, will my drive into work act as a charge or will I still need to power down then power up while charging in the car? Thanks, all.

Nice...how big was the file? An hour in 720p has got to add up!

side note: I'd be to afraid to go to an A7x concert with my incredible. I can't imagine moshpits being my phones best friend, especially while trying to record the show.

OK. First, as far as the "Off-Charge" part...theres nothing they can do to fix it. That's why it isn't fixed.

As for the Bump Charge ( this is where you unplug and plug it in repeatedly. ) I personally don't recommend it. It is likely just a sign you are over charging and damaging the battery. Use the "Off-Charge" method only. Once you unplug the phone, keep it unplugged. ( The only thing you do in off-charge is turn the phone off. The phone is using some of the power, so the battery can not get a full charge. Turning it off lets the battery get that last bit of charge. Once the light turns green unplug and turn it on. You are good to go. )

It is recommended to not use a car charger unless needed. They do not have proper power protection as those sockets are only meant to get a piece of metal hot ( IE: Cig. Lighter. )..they have various issues that can cause problems for electronics, and in the case of charging a phone can degrade the battery. Car chargers should be fine if only used occasionally, as it's only a small degradation on the maximum charge of the battery...so if rarely used it would have little over-all impact. It is daily use that can cause a large impact and "kill" a battery.

Remember, when shooting video, light exposure is key. In low light you will see grainy-ness, and worthless video. in too much light, you will need to set proper white balance and exposure settings. The audio from uploaded videos I've heard, is total garbage.

This is a phone. The fact that it can do 720p recording is amazing itself.

I think that looks pretty great.....not sure what they're doing, but the high quality looks good! :p

Dude, I was there and I don't know what they are doing. It just gave me an excuse to try out my 720p. From what I've gathered, in good light, 720p rocks, in low/moderate light, it leaves some things to be desired.
