The little things...(2.2 Update addons/changes)

Only thing I noticed is now I can't make phone calls as there is no audio in the ear piece -_-

I read through this whole thread. Nobody has posted about this new difference yet in 2.2

When using folders in 2.1 on your homescreen , the icons for items placed in the folders were pretty small...you could fit many more items on a single folder screen. Now in 2.2, the icons match the size of those normally placed on your homescreens....meaning you can only fit 16 icons on a single folder screen. I know you can fit more but it requires scrolling on the folder screen which was not necessary in 2.1

An Interesting difference

I have a Flash update but it can't be found and clicking it in the appbrain window says it is not executable. How do I get Flash working?

Thanx In Advance!!!

I had this same problem...if Flash is not working for you after the 2.2 Update...it may not have been updated (as was the case for me). 2.2 did not update my Adobe Flash. In order to update it, you must do it manually. Install the apk manually from the following thread at XDA:

Adobe flash 10.1 non-beta apk from N1? - Page 3 - xda-developers

You want the mediafire link to Adobe Flash 10.1.92.8 apk.

Mixed reviews? Interesting, it's pretty basic and straight forward that I can't see anything wrong with it.

Yeah. I was reading somewhere on the forum that people weren't too pleased with it. I don't have it or 2.2 yet but I think its simple functionality would do the job for me.

Flash is working but I still have a Flash update in Appbrain (the app) that says there is an update and I can't get rid of it or uninstall to reinstall it again. Just sits there and when an auto update comes for others it tells me that the Flsh one can't be found.

A HUGE improvement in the browser is that you now have the ability to select files to UPLOAD. This is a basic feature that was lacking for so long. Good job google, htc and vzw.

Another improvement not mentioned yet is to the stock gallery app. ui changes a little bit....but main improvement is that it remembers where you are after full screen viewing a photo. 2.1 would always lose where you were in the photo album after viewing a photo.

Received 2.2 OTA this morning, now everytime I open my Gmail it automatically opens the first message in the list, this didn't happen on 2.1 and I don't see a setting for this. Anyone else notice this or know how to make Gmail open to my list of emails instead of opening the first email in the list?

For what it is worth, I have 2.1 and when I open Gmail when I get a new email from the notification screen, it automatically opens the first email.

Worked like a champ, thanks!

Just checked and yes it required me to select menu//exit... I really wish it rotated to landscape ....is there an app for that?

Has anyone else noticed the Google Maps navi is more of a battery drain than in 2.1, or is it just me?
Also, do you now have to click Menu>Exit to leave the car panel menu? I used to be able to click back to exit, but now i can't.

Try Custom Car Home. Allows landscape and you can select your own icons.

I've been scanning these 2.2 threads trying to find this...but I can't. I feel so dumb to have to ask...

How do I get 2.2? :o

EDIT: So after more looking...I can do it manually with some fancy file downloading and moving...or wait for an update to pop up on my phone?

Fear

New keyboard is great. I can type amazingly fast on it. It appears to be multi-touch. Test it out. Press one key and with your finger still on that key push another (do it before the secondary character menu pops up though). I love it! Seems more accurate to me too for some reason.

I thought froyo was suppose to support up to 512mb of RAM...

well, as it stands, advance task manager is still reporting under 200mb of RAM free with routine app killing. where the heck is my 512mb of RAM? is froyo ripping us off, or HTC?

Haven't seen it posted here yet, but I love that fact that now when you go to manage applications, it lists your downloaded ones by default instead of you having to use the filter setting.

How does one "SWITCH" to 720p? Where's the setting for that? :D

Open the camcorder app. Open the menu. On the bottom option for tools you will see an option for the video resolution. Select that and you will be able to switch.

I have not seen any difference in the keyboard. Is there a setting that changes something - or is it just too subtle for me?

Forgive my smartphone ignorance, but I now have the update and in looking through
what it offers, I found the following:

+ Transfer data faster with 801.11n Wi-Fi capabilities.
+ Easily switch between the eight most recent applications.
+ A new Mail Stream widget increases ease of use.

Are there any directions or explanations for setting up and using these new features? Directions that don't assume the reader knows everything about technology and terminology?

Thanks!

Don't know which thread to post:

Have any of used Chrome to phone yet? I'm gradually making the switch to Chrome browser from the Firefox 4 Beta

Chrome to phone is for me one of the best simple features a phone could offer, I have so many pages on my favorites at work to read the next day, now all I do is send them to my phone and I read one by one while I walk my dog or wait for something, little features like this is what makes me love even more Android
