The little things...(2.2 Update addons/changes)

Ya, but I had the flashlight feature on my old ATT Moto Q and I used it quite a bit as stupid as it may sound. I was actually excited to see them include the flashlight feature in 2.2

I was excited as well, that's why I shared. My joke about battery drain we sort of serious...it is in fact another "GREAT" way to drain the battery. As opposed to the stupid apps that can drain your battery :)

I really like this background but don't want it to be "live". Anyone have a link to just the plain .jpg of the image?

I found this solution on the forums here, but have not tried it because I haven't gotten a popup.
Dial ##7764726
Hit Call
Type Password 000000 (6 0s)
Hit Feature Settings
Choose CD ROM
Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)

weird, i get hte popup every time...and when i went into this menu, the cdrom was already set to disable. :(

me three.....something has to be done about that. it is real bad. that part used to fly. Some have said a Hard Reset will fix it? but i don't want to do that until we know it works.

has anybody done this yet????????

I have the same problem, AFTER factory reset. Doesn't seem like it will go away. Seems to be the worst on full internet pages, less noticeable on mobile sites. But factory reset definitely did NOT solve the problem for me.

I have been running it for a couple of days now and my experience is completely different from your's.

The battery always dropped 4-7% within 30 minutes or so. This is the reason for the million of threads we see on here about bumb charging. So no change there...

My battery life has improved by about 10% or so.

I charge overnight so I have no idea if that is slower or not. All I know is that it fully charges in the time it takes me to sleep :D I have seen several reports of this so you are probably correct.

My phone is MUCH faster. It was fast before but now it's insane. I actually had to turn down the home screen scrolling speed in my Launcher Pro app because it was going too fast. My quadrant scores went from 550-600 (with 2.1) to 1200-1400 (with 2.2).

Flash is working fine as far as I can tell. Everything I have tried it on worked great.

My browser speed is pretty much the same. No improvement that I can notice, but not slower by any stretch of the imagination.

You might want to try a factory reset if you are having this many problems. I really don't think it's normal.

question, what should 2.2 on the incred be getting? i got 1151 on it, but never tried it with 2.1. what sort of score SHOULD i be getting?

the camera app is way cool in froyo has the 720p video recording with option to turn light on for vid as well, been using it for over month now and its sweet, I have the evo version on mine with the onscreen take pic button....

Sweet, I didn't even notice that this was added! Thanks for the info.

My fiance will be happy... he likes to take EVERYTHING in portrait mode.

Most of the reports I am seeing are between 1200 and 1400. I have seen as high as 16XX and as low as about 1050.

It will constantly change, so right now you might have 1100 and in 10 minutes you'll get 1300.

But it's still way better than the 500-600 I was getting on 2.1.

Mine is much snappier with the update. You should consider doing a fresh install.

BTW..... Defragging is only for mechanical hard drives.

I haven't been blown away. It's an incremental improvement in my book. Nothing earth shattering to be sure. 720 video is pretty bad unfortunately (not looking for a replacement to a real camera, was just hoping for something reasonable in quality). I dont even see a difference between 720 and 480 on these two videos I shot before and after the update.

Browser is (unfortunately) still slower than the 3rd party browsers on pages full of ads and crap.

Overall I'm happy with the update still.

I'm confused...I could always take pictures in portrait mode. Are you saying that now the settings/flash/gallery buttons rotate into portrait mode making it easier to take a portrait shot?

PLEASE GOD dont tell me 2.2 has laggy internet??

That is the EXACT reason why i left BB and joined Android to begin with!!!

SON OF A ......

Does anyone have 2.2 and no issues with internet?

Can anyone link to a resource that promised the 2.2 update to be an updgrade to battery performance. As far as I know, this was all hearsay.

Installed 2.2 on my Incredible this morning. Just before lunch I reached in my pocket for my phone and the battery side was HOT and when I looked, even though it was on my charger all night, battery was almost totally spent. Put it on my charger and noticed all the junk that Verizon so graciously injected into my phone (Skype, etc) was running and so were a LARGE quantity of my apps.

Had Advanced Task Killer and saw that people were suggesting to dump that. So I did. A short time later, reached for phone, HOT again, checked and tons of apps running. Re-installed ATK and set it to kill apps whenever screen is off (needed restart) and although "some" apps fire back up and stay up, not near as many as do without ATK. And battery now stays cool.

Read ATK does nothing but any other way to shut this stuff down short of rooting phone? And if people don't use ATK or root their phone, did they just doom their battery life to a couple hours?

That will prevent me from accepting the update.

Any replies to the above?

I got a chance to actually try it out last night and man is that sucker bright. I thought my white screen "flashlight" app was bright before but this thing makes it seem like it's daylight :D.
