My Incredible is running perfect with 2.2. My battery life has actually improved.

95% of the problems that you are "seeing" (as in, reading about online) are easily fixed with a factory reset.

I am 110% happy with my phone. I will not be trading up for the Galaxy. First of all, I get a new phone every two years and that's that. I get what I want when my upgrade time arrives and I make sure to get something I will be happy with for 2 years. Second... I don't personally think that the Galaxy is a big enough upgrade to the DINC for me to pay retail for it (which I would need to do if I don't want until my upgrade time).

To me there's not significant of a difference to waste an upgrade. No front camera, processor is 1ghz just like the Incredible, only a 5mp compared to an 8mp. My friend has a Galaxy S and the Camera on my Incredible is much better.

I'd say keep your Incredible or at least wait to see if the Fascinate gets 2.2. Samsung is known for being slow on updates and forgetting about updates.

Going from this post, i agree. I would NOT trade an Inc for a Fascinate. I was just giving my opinion. If you were to walk into a store with the option to buy either or, i would personally choose the Fascinate.

Any problems associated with the Inc can usually be fixed and is not worth getting rid of the phone.

You can tell people this over and over and it never seems to register. People claim hard reseting is too much or isn't an option, so they sit around the forum and complain.

I will disagree that the camera on the Inc is better. I have to say that the camera on the samsung takes better pictures. I have both phones and i am more satisfied with my Fascinates camera over my Incs.

I did the manual update.zip and i did experience some minimal lag. after doing a reset, my phone never falters. i couldnt be happier with it. my battery life has also improved quite noticeably with 2.2

Fascinate is dumb. Bing loaded..terrible. It is dying to be an iphone. Doesnt have newest flash player. Cant do google search(widget, obviously you can goto google.com) screen is ok, icons in app drawer look exactly like iphone and stupid(imo)..5mp camera

Only posotives are screen size and the processor.

How is the processor better when its intentionally underclocked to 800mhz from what I've read?

Incredible is the best device I've ever had hands down. I could not be happier with the performance of the phone. If you're worried about battery life get the 1600 mah battery for 16 dollars, it works beautifully.

Maybe. But his question was "would you trade up for the Galaxy?", and my answer is no.

IF I were to be looking to upgrade right now and my choices were between the HTC and the Samsung, I would still go with the HTC. Right now at least.

I never get phones the day they are released. There is more to picking a phone than just comparing the spec's. And I never buy new release products, especially electronics. I want until they are out in the market and there are lots of actual user reviews of it. I want until I can get my own hands on it to play around. Just because the spec's look good or the device is aesthetically pleasing doesn't mean it's going to be a good device when actually in use.

That's just my opinion. Phone's are just like anything else, it's mostly personal preference. For instance, you couldn't pay me to use an iPhone, yet there are plenty of people who swear by them.

Well, the Fascinate has a 1 GHZ Hummingbird DPC and the DInc has a 1GHZ Snap Dragon. Not sure what the difference is. However, I am TOTALLY happy with my DInc and have NO desire to change it for another device (unless a DInc 2 is coming out...) and even then it would have to be a significant improvement! This phone is EASILY the best one I've EVER had.

Besides, I wouldn't consider going to a Fascinate, Droid X, Droid 2, etc. to be an "Upgrade" to my DInc. At best, I consider it to be a lateral move or even a downgrade. Sence UI is hard to beat! Dual flash on 8 megapixal camera is too! Sleak device and perfect size. I have Froyo running and have had NO problems with my phone! I love it!

I've had Samsung phones in the past and their support is crap at best! Their phones have ALWAYS been disappointing without exception for me. After you buy it, you live with it. They don't bother doing many if ANY updates to it at all.

Out of all the Android phones out there, the DInc is the ONLY one what CNET gave their "Editor's Choice" award. That says something in itself.

Having said all of that, Opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one...

I'll agree with what many said here. Upgrade from the Incredible to the Fascinate? Only if it's free. And even then, that means new accessories, so not free for me. But, if I were heading into the store today to make my initial purchase, it would be a tough call.

The Fascinate offers a larger, higher quality screen. It's up to you to decide if the extra bulk is manageable or not worth the trade-off. It's certainly not as big a difference as when compared to the Droid X.

Next up are the specs. They both offer a 1ghz CPU. The Snapdragon on the Incredible is about 5% faster in general tasks (IE, not enough to notice), but uses more power due to being on an older process (65nm vs. 45nm). The Hummingbird is supposedly 10-20% faster in multi-threaded apps, but the way Android multi-tasks means you'll almost never notice this difference. As far as the GPU goes, the Fascinate's is 3-4X more powerful, but games today don't really take advantage of it. You'll get less lag in some newer titles, but until Google adds GPU acceleration to the UI, this feature may not mean much. Lastly, the Incredible has 512MB of shared RAM, while the Fascinate is 512MB of separate dedicated memory (384MB for the system, 128MB for GPU). This may come in handy in the future, but is meaningless now. Android 2.1 could only officially support 256MB of RAM, so at 2.2 you might notice a difference with the number of apps that can run in the background. Again, not a big deal for today's use.

In terms of the camera, yea, the Incredible is 8MB vs. 5MP on the Fascinate. The Incredible also has a larger aperture, meaning it has the potential to take better photos. However, Samsung has leveraged their software strengths to good use. All indications are that the Fascinate takes excellent photos, while the Incredible doesn't. Also, the Fascinate takes 720p video @ 30fps. The Incredible can't approach 30 fps when using 720p.

Samsung is also putting a lot of accessory support behind the Galaxy S line, to include dedicated horizontal desk docks, car docks, etc. HTC's support in this area has been non-existent.

Overall, the logical choice is that if you're walking into the store today, the Fascinate is the winner. But I'm weird. I'd still take the Incredible mainly for HTC Sense. I just like the way it works. Sure, someday when HTC drops support I'll simply root and put some vanilla ROM on it and use Launcher Plus, at which point, both phones would be the same. Also, I like the way the phone looks, and I think that the form factor is perfect in terms of size and grip. But again, those are subjective to your tastes.

I've had a chance to play with the Fascinate and it is a gorgeous phone. The screen is amazing and the actual design of the hardware is superb. It is larger than the Incredible in terms of screen size but just as thin.

Experience wise, nothing really groundbreaking, IMO. The one feature we all had a blast with was the panoramic picture feature, which worked near flawlessly. Samsung has their own UI on there which was neither a plus or delta. The system was just as responsive as an Incredible out of the box. Keep in mind, when I got the hands on, it was with early software, so the responsiveness may change with the final build. But, overall, it was a solid Android experience. The only thing I don't recall us trying was if you could switch back to the native Android interface.

Having an Incredible and having played with the Fascinate, I don't see any big gains by upgrading. If you want a device with a larger screen or different hardware style, then that would be a reason to upgrade. I think the device would also serve well for someone getting into the Android platform for the first time. But to move from an Incredible to the Fascinate would be more of a lateral one as opposed to a true upgrade (in the sense of functionality).

Dumb? Doesnt have newest flash because its 2.1 not 2.2. Can do google search, you must turn off Bing as default. Screen is super amoled and has the highest resolution of any android device. Icons can be changed by downloading a free launcher.

We are comparing devices not hating on either one. Help the OP.....

Valid point. But i will say. I have both. The Inc and the Fascinate (not the captivate, vibrant, epic). I can def say that i personally prefer the Fascinate. I LOVE my Inc. Its a great phone. But the Fascinate just feels better to me. Screen size and resolution is perfect. I have great reception with the Samsung as well. Battery lasts a bit longer on the Fascinate. All though I will say neither the Inc or the Fascinate are great on battery.

Okay. I am taking 3 pictures using both the Fascinate and the Incredible. Give me a few and i will post them for comparison.

I'm pretty sure a factory reset won't fix the battery issue!

Get the phone you like. Go into the store and check them out. That's the best way to decide if you have already read up on both phones and compared them "on paper".

It did it for me.

I got to play with a Galaxy at length when a girlfriend of mine had it at the bar. She didn't know much but she let me play for about an hour. She had the at&t version. Impressions:

1. At&ts service sucks. I mean really really sucks.

2. The super amoled is extremely nice. Its huge and the thing is beautiful

3. However, samsungs UI sucks compared to sense. The finishing on the artwork for the screen features and widgets isnt as good. (I feel same about droid x and droid 2).

4. Was a big laggy on screen changes and such. Granted it was on 2.1.

5. The size was very nice. Very thin, yet screen is huge.

6. Sucked down battery like dracula sucks blood at a sweet 16.

7. Hard (soft) whatever buttons sucked really bad. Their reactive are is tiny and you have to fish and fish to get a response out of them. That was annoying.

8. Quadrant of around 900. Not bad for eclair, but most of that is probably due to GPU. Maybe froyo would help it out a lot.

Conclusion: I would take the incredible. The fit, finish, function of both hardware and software is better. I have 2.2 update, and even with 2.1 I never had a single problem with anything (so maybe I am biased). I think sense is leagues above the samsung stuff as well. The screen on the inc is only slightly smaller, but I believe that its as beautiful as the super amoled.

appreciate all the feedback! I have an old antique LG flip phone that i'm replacing w/ 1 of the upgrades. Have to see what the smartphone does to my already expensive family share plan. I have a BBerry BOLD9000 on ATT that's company provided; and agree - TONS of dropped calls on ATT (would not buy a device on their network). Love the white backed Incredible that just surfaced and will have to tinker with both phones a bit in the VZW store when i goto pick/upgrade.
