Limewire Users - Chime In!!!

Long time iTunes user, but now I'm tired of it. I'm considering using Limewire, and I have a few questions.

How many of you are pleased with the free version?

How many feel it necessary to use the paid version?

Do you usually find the music you're looking for? (specify free or paid please)

Is it easy to move their files from folder to folder, or computer to phone, or..anything else you may want to do?

Why do you like it?

I used to love it!!.... until I had to re-format my hard drive because a virus locked my computer into a boot loop.... >.>

If you want to use it, make sure you have recovery and back-up disks made for your computer. Nothing but a virus magnet.

Yeah I started finding posts like yours when I searched other forums I post on. I ended up with Napster. I'm just so sick of iTunes and the way they do things.

There's no way to get a virus on Limewire if you know what ur doing. When searching for a song, make sure to show the bitrate column because if a song appears to not have a bitrate, then its probably a virus. Stick by this and you'll never have a virus.

So, sharing music is bad, but buying music from iTunes and then being told I can't use it how I want to is acceptable? Psh!

I'm not *trying* to pirate music. Like I said, I joined Napster. I didn't know anything about Limewire when I posted this other than it was free, and there was a paid version, too.

There are three methods to obtaining music quickly. Or three good ones. Torrents are good if you have a private tracker you're with that forces users to maintain a ratio. Instead of Limewire, use Frostwire. Still, be careful about what you download. Finally, the best way, is direct-download links. There are plenty of forums dedicated to these and they leak albums weeks in advance. Depends on what kind of music you like.

What kind of music do you like? I have a forum for rap/hip-hop. It has a rock and "other" genre forum, but not sure how up-to-date it is.

For all my old rock albums I use ****, which is a private site.

I like old school hip hop, electronica, some "alternative" rock. I'm pretty open minded with music....

Please don't post links to that sort of website.

As you well know, we don't support piracy here.

I'll give you an elementary site. Start with this and if this doesn't get everything you need, I'll trickle some more down.

**** is the best site, though. It's invite-only, but it's definitely worth it as it has just about every album from every artist and each album is in about four or five different qualities, i.e. FLAC, lossless, I dunno what else. I dunno my audio codecs.

If I had an invite I'd definitely put it out there and trade for another site, but I don't. I just got one for ****, which is everything but music. They might have changed that recently, though.

Private trackers are the best! :D I get 2MB/sec download speeds consistently.
