Warranty Replacement for Droid 1---What did they tell you and what did they send you.

The "like-new" crap they keep sending out is killing me. My first D1 was good for a nice long time because it was new! They sent me another D1 and that took four days to mess up. I told them send one that works! Spent 25min with an associate then asked for a manager. Spent 2min with him and he said the would send me out a D2. Let's hope this one works. Got an upgraded phone which is always nice.

Well, I called them up. They gave me the tracking number. It is on the truck for delivery. They couldn't tell me what phone they were sending me, but we'll have to see what it is. The shipping weight is 1lb. I'm assuming it's a D1.

Mine is finally out for delivery too! Both the refurb D1 and D2's weigh 1 lb. NIB weighs 2 lbs. Good luck, I hope you get a decent replacement. :)

Same thing happened to me. I received 3 or 4 (i've lost count) D1 replacements before being sent the D2. I really like the D2, I am sure you will too!!

You and me both. I open it up, and if it isn't darn near perfect, I'm calling and complaining. Paid way too much money to get the run around on warranty work.

I have yet heard of a perfect D1 replacement. I take that back, I think two people on here like theirs. The D2's are cosmetically great. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

I'm not hoping for absolute perfect, but it should look almost new and function like a new phone. And of course, the one day my wife decides to do some errands, the Fedex guy comes to the house and now I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow. :( I'll make sure to let you guys know how it turns out.

O-Well what ya going to do?!?!?

Oh bummer! If she has to run out tomorrow, she can leave a not telling the driver to leave it without a signature.

Yeah, I called Fedex and they "texted" the driver asking him to swing back around if he had time. But, for good measure, I had my wife sign the document that they leave on your door, so that he will just leave the package if she isn't there.

That would be great if he came back by! I know I am anxiously waiting mine right now. Any minute..... :)

You know what you're getting?

I am getting a NIB D2. It has taken me more than I can count CNLR D1's and D2's to finally get a supervisor to send me a brand new phone. I hope this whole merry go round of changing phones a few times a week is over. I have given up on customizing since it only lasts a few days, lol

Well I'm getting off this merry go round. What ever was messed up on my phone, has decided to sort of fix itself. I dunno what happened but after 3 crap replacements it decided to straigten up and work right. I'm so glad. I kept fiddling with the settings while waiting for replacements. I'm glad I did, cause obviously somethign I did fixed it.

That is great news!!

Well the fedex man cane back around my house and dropped off my package, ended up getting a D1. Not overly upset, considering it was the phone I had, but a "little" disappointed. Things didn't start very smoothly though, it took 3 factory resets before the darn thing would download my apps from the market place. It is currently downloading them now. We'll see how everything goes.

Keep us posted. That is the same thing that happened with my second D2 replacement.

So I got my replacement phone for my Droid 1 and it was a refurbished Droid X. However, it didn't come with any battery or back cover...

So I call verizon, and they told me it was a mistake that they sent the DX and either I can keep the phone and buy the battery myself or send it back and they would send out a refurbished D1. I am so mad.

What would you guys do?

Long story short:
top right corner of keyboard started coming off after i was so in love with this droid1.
the first call i made the tech support guy said lets get you into a different device (D2).
He asked me what accessories i would be losing by switching and i said media station dock.
He couldnt find one in stock for the droid 2 so he gave me the verizon snap on case with the kickstand(:)).
ordered everything else and here i am now.

not to happy with color but i guess its ok.

Do you like the X? Would you rather have the slide out keyboard? You could always return it and ask for the D2. Or keep it, and get a battery and back cover off eBay. It boils down to what you prefer :)

Welcome to D2 :) You will have the case now so you won't have to look at it :)

Well, after the 3 resets my D1 replacement has finally downloaded all of my apps. I'm currently in the mix of setting everything back up, so we'll get the processor up and running with my 3 emails accounts, 5+ calendars, widgets, facebook, twitter and see what the phone can doe. I can't find anything wrong with it as of yet. :( So means I'll be sticking with it till I can. Does anyone know, if the refurb gets like a 90 day warranty or anything? Or if it finishes out the warranty of the original phone?
