Root Sense Dialer??

large

Newbie
Let me start by saying that I am running KaosFroyo with LauncherPro Plus and I love it! The only thing I don't like is the dialer. I miss using the number pad to look up contacts (maybe because "mom" is "666") like I could using sense.

Is there any way to replace the dialer with the sense dialer? or is there a way to get this feature?

Also... do any of the custom dialers have widgets? It would make more sense to be able to dial from a home screen then to have to open the dialer.

I believe Doogald actually means Dialer One. :)
That's what I use, it can be set up to search by name and number just like the Sense dialer does.

Dialer one is good so far, I'll try aTakePhone as well.

I also found PhoneWidget. it is a simple widget that allows you to dial without opening the dialer. It works as advertised but is only useful if you know the phone # you are calling, it doesn't access your contacts like Dialer One.

If some developer wants to make create a great app make a sizable widget that allows you to search contacts or dial (like the sense dialer and dialer one) without needed to leave the homescreen. I'm not sure why nobody has thought of something like this before, but it would be super useful.

:)

For widget with your favorites or whatever category you want to display there is Scrollable Contact Widget. But for just the dialer, definitely Dialer One

The problem I have with Dialer one is that it does not include tabs for call log, dial and favorites.

Which is exactly why *I* like it (just goes to show you...)
I prefer a dialer that is just a dialer, with a good search function through my contacts. Those other tabs just annoy me. :)

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I learned somehing.
Thanks Izel. :)

No worries, its amazing how much "hidden" functionality there is in android apps (in general) but very little documentation is there to TELL you about it all. In general just try swiping in various directions in any app you have, and sometimes you might surprise yourself. I know in EasyMoney (i love this checkbook app) you have swiping functions also.

You guys are great. I just rooted and put Nonsensikal on my Eris, but I was really missing the Sense dialer. Searching to see if someone had made a ROM for it, I came across this- thanks Doogald and IzelTokatl, you guys just made my day!
