Accessories Best Incredible [Full] Screen Protector

I just bought some generic Japanese made full screen protectors off Amazon. A pack of 3 for about $4. I bought 3 packs. Looks like the any of the major manufacturer stuff at the fraction of the cost. Good enough for me.

would have agreed with you month ago or so. Had some ones i got from verizon. Hard to put on, dust, edges peeling, etc. Was nervous as hell when i went to put my steinhill CC on. It went on perfectly first time, still got a back-up and after... um.. 2 months i think, looks like i just put it on. Is a fingerprint magnet though, good thing i wear glasses and always have a microfiber cloth with me at all times!!

Have had the zagg on my phone since May and am very satisfied. Can't speak of other screens this being my first phone with a screen protector. Mine went on without a problem but I can see how this protector can be a real pain to get on correctly. Since they use adhesive on the back, pulling up on the screen protector to adjust the position can be cause for concern as to if those tiny tiny micro bubbles will ever go away. I didn't have many because I got it on in one try but they all went away over a period of a few weeks and now it is spotless after several months.

I had ordered two and gave one to a friend of mine. We compared screens and his did not look very good at all. He had bubbles/ micro bubbles all over, assuming he had to adjust several times to get the screen laid correctly. I recently took a look at it and it still looks bad, actually worse. Around the optical mouse the screen is coming up and really discolored.

My point of all this is if you go with the zagg take your time, read the directions because you can come out one of two ways with this screen. I am very happy with it, he is not!

You should tell him to buy a phantom skin. They are a little hard to apply, but they look great. To apply it, you have to soak the skin in warm water with a drop or two of soap in the water. This causes the skin to slide around easily to get it in the right position. It goes on the screen completely flat with no bubbles whatsoever and you just use the card that comes with the screen to squeeze all of the water out from under the screen. Let it set and dry and it will stay in place forever. No corners peeling up and the screen looks completely naked.

It does have an ever so slight orange peel look to it when the phone is off, but you cannot see it when the display is on.

PS and Zagg are identical materials with almost identical wet application methods.

While I have used phantomskinz for a long time and really like them, I have never really understood the self healing part. After about 6 months of use for each one, I typically replace them because there are marks and little dents on the film. I've been using them for a long time, so it really only takes 5 minutes to pull off and apply a new one.

Right now I am using boxwave, curious how long these last !!

On my last PhantomSkinz on my Touch Pro 2 you could run a fine line down the middle of the screen with your fingernail and within a couple of days that mark would be gone. But dents and bigger marks never really go away.

I have had my Boxwave on my Incredible for about 6 months now and am starting to notice some fine scratches and wear marks on it. I bought a 3 pack and normally would not replace it at this point but I probably will just to sell it which should be happening pretty soon.

So I would say depending on how careful you are with your device you should be able to get 6 months or so out of the Boxwave.

I bought 2 packs of the phantom skinz screen only kits and applied a new one today. When I used the 'application tool' it put a ton of small scratches all over the screen and within 20 minutes they were all gone.

My ONLY complaint is around the edges, under the right light, it looks like the screen is bubbling up. Like it isn't sticking properly. But it is. All the edges are nice and smooth. Maybe it's an inconsistency with the skin material. I'm about tempted to take it off and apply a new one. But for now, this one will work.

I've had the Zagg on three phones, OG Droid 1 most recently and they work well. Until lint starts to build up on the sides and that drag from the texture is horrible. Took it off, a week later, a cooler rubbed up against the screen and scratched the living daylights out of it. I can take a set of keys and not put a scratch on the screen. Go figure.

Right now, I am rocking the phone naked. I will drop it at some point. Not sure whether to go with the Zagg again or try this Boxwave. I don't like screen protectors that scratch super often so if it does then I will stick with Zagg.

Side note: anyone have a case that kind of covers the edges of the screen? I am looking at the Verizon High Gloss Silicone (It looks like plastic in the pictures) and it doesn't look like it would be very sturdy if it went across asphalt.

Search the Accessories forum for the review of the Case-Mate Tough Case. I have that case and it is the best case available in my opinion, if you factor in protection vs. price.

I got it for $21 with free shipping. There's a link in the thread to the vendor (not through Case-Mate).

Amazing case. Protective and great grip, plus the silicone liner does not push up the sides of a screen protector.

Thanks for the suggestion, just a bit big for my tastes. I want something that fits over the back and a good screen cover. I might go with this Crystal Clear one by Boxwave. Hopefully it isn't one that scratches easy like these WriteGuards (sp?)

I've only used the VZW/HTC and Seidio; and like the HTC one MUCH better but doesn't offer full face protection(I already have a faint scratch because of this). The Seidio looks like it protects better(thicker), but also seems like it's not as responsive as the HTC. I have to press harder on the screen vs. lightly touching it.

I have the gloss silicone case and it's pretty sturdy! I've knocked it off a kitchen counter face down onto stone tile and dropped it from arms length twice onto wood and not a scratch. My boyfriend just was trying to open our truck door with it in his hand the other night and it went flying onto the street (face down and then onto its back) with no scratching either.

The case is actually a lot firmer than it looks and the lip the covers the screen (as well as our Steinheil covers) protects it really well and it doesn't push up the edges of the screen shield. I also like that the camera is flush, although if a raised rock hit it on a fall, it would obviously not protect it. It's a pretty thin case and so far it's protected our Incredibles very well.

We actually got the Verizon case just as a temporary thing back in late April, and have yet to get anything else. We both love it. Hope that helps a bit! :)

Do you use a case? If so which kind, and how does the case onteract with the corners of the protector?

Yes I use the Verizon case/holster combo because the BoxWave protectors don't actually offer any body protection at all. No problems with the edges or corners of the protectors.

@jdsingle The boxwave is much more scratch resistant than the Writeguards. As mentioned previously I get about 6 months use out of the BoxWave protectors before I start to notice any real scratches.

Just ordered the BoxWave ClearTouch for my DInc. Hopefully it works out well. I am swinging by Verizon tomorrow for that high gloss case.

Same for Xtremeguard. Always had a good result with installation. Best part is they are less expensive than Zagg, but are identical in performance. I believe the one for the DI is $2.49

Just received my boxwave crystal clear and tried putting it on. Bubbles galore. One side wouldn't even stock. Very disappointed. Made sure it was dust free, was careful as could be and still a ton of bubbles.

Only one side is made to stick. Follow the directions and make sure you are putting the right side down. Also if you line up the bottom edge and and then slowly press the air out with the card as you are laying down you will have a bubble free crystal clear installation. A steamy bathroom helps eliminate dust.

I've been able to get the boxwave to lay down without bubbles, but the edges just won't stay flat. After a few weeks of using it, more and more of the edges start to peel up. I know I can pull it off and re-apply, but when I have done that in the past, it just gets worse. It's really annoying. I contacted customer service and it took them almost 2 weeks to respond, not impressed at all.

After mentioning this on forums, several people told me they had similar issues with boxwave.

Compared to other protectors, this one has the best feel to it... Sometimes I can't even tell there's anything on the screen. Also, after a few months of using it, there's not one single dent or scratch on the protector.

That's pretty obvious only side does. I'm talking about the corner on the sticky side. I understand how to use the applicator cars to push bubbles out but they would not move. Ended up returning it. I'm waiting for it right now.

Its pretty obvious I was just trying to give you some friendly advice having done dozens of these myself. If you understood how to use the card to push the bubbles out then you wouldn't have any bubbles. ;)
