Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

ok trying this ROM after zapx

I want the Blur news widget. is there a way to restore it

You can install any app to system by putting the .apk on your sdcard then running the following script in terminal:

su
install appname.apk

So just grab the news widget apk from the 2.3.15 deodexed system and install it that way.

Hey Fab do you think keep data from rubiX would mess up anything? I tried ZapX and the dev said advance restoring data/not formatting data was causing a lot of my issues.

I want to try this right away, I've been having some funky sensor issues where UID 1001 runs all the time, and today UID 1013 chewed up almost 25 mbs of data, but I don't think I have time to do a fresh install

WOW... RSD lite stopped working. ABD is right and phone shows up but has this to say...

This ROM is great.

SBF'd to 2.2 because I had avoided the OTA until we got a proper SBF for it. Rooted, installed bootstrapper/Titanium Backup. Backed up apps, made a Nandroid backup, then installed RC1.

Don't know what went wrong - it booted the first time, but when I rebooted it went into a bootloop. Booted to recovery, wiped user data, and it booted. Restored everything again and it was great.

Found the RC2 release, and wiped/installed it/restored apps and settings. Works great.

I used this partly as a way to hone a process for restoring everything the way I like it as quickly as possible. I've got it down to a science now.

Thanks for the great, speedy ROM!

If I'm understanding this correctly. The new SBF flashes the phone to 2. 2 OTA? I'm running rc1 with the leaked 2. 3. 9 still so for the RC2 I just need to use the new sbf and rsdlite and I can root and do the rest from there?

i had similar problem with rc1, when i try to add my college email acct it won't let me. i had it on my phone prior to rooting and it worked fine. when i try to add it through the email app i enter my information username and password, but then the next button is disabled and shaded gray and i can not add it. adding it through my accounts is also not working. can someone help ?

anybody notice a huge speed improvement the rc2 over rc1. I didn't wipe anything when I flashed, but the phone is noticeably quicker.

So can I install this over my RC1 that was installed over the leaked 2.3.9 or do I need to install this over the 2.2 OTA? Also what would be the easiest method to achieve the 2.2 OTA coming from the leaked 2.3.9?

Sorry for the questions but I just want to make sure. I don't want to be stuck here with a bricked phone simply because I didn't ask a question.

How to: Return DROID X Back to Android 2.1 - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Follow those instructions to flash to OTA 2.2, but use the OTA 2.2 obviously, and use the RSD 4.8 (here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BLXVKH1N) instead of 4.

Flashing is very simple

Edit: fixed like for rsd 4.8. It was late and I was tired, thought I copied the link bit I guess I didn't

This is really frustrating me. My third attempt to install this ROM and every time I do it through ROM manager and select the wipe data and cache option, it seems to do a wipe, but then reboots into stock android with blur like the phone came with. It doesn't even install this ROM at all. Wtf am I doing wrong. Bootstrap is installed and working fine and everything. Ugh.

EDIT: Nevermind, did it without ROM Manager and it worked. Weird. Booting up now, I'm excited :D Thanks for the ROM.

Wasn't paying attention and forgot to format system. Everything went fine coming from RC1 so I am going to leave it and see how things work out.

The easiest is to flash the 2.2 sbf.
