Root How difficult is it to go back to stock.

Want to flash back to stock and update to the "official" 2.2 Can I do this in short order or is it fairly troublesome?

go to Home and dl the .SBF leaked froyo 2.2. Download RSD Lite v4.8 (or whatever the current version is)...you will use RSD to install the full stock froyo through bootloader mode on your phone. To access bootloader mode press AND hold in order (red camera button, volume down button, and power button). From here, run RSD lite on your computer and connect your DX to your computer via USB. From here, find the .SBF file you downloaded and click "start".

Oh boy! I did exactly as instructed here. I think everything went ok, but, I have a blue triangle next to my signal bars. And nothing is configured under settings>about phone>status. Do I need to manually enter these in, or does calling 611 complete this?

reactivate the phone the same way you did when you first got ur phone. (dial *228) and that blue triangle will go away =)

I would try a battery pull.
Replace battery. go for a reboot.

If fail.
pull battery & replace
press power button & home button same time and HOLD until exclamation point.
press search button (4th button)
menu pops up reboot option should be Highlighted ( volume key up or down if need to select boot option)
Press camera button to reboot

May take a bit to reboot

K, the *228 thingie worked. All seems fine, except the button for Market errors out and says its not installed. Home/Power on till ! then factory reset I suppose?
 
Meh, K, got my Market button working, but lost Angry Bird levels. Such as life :P (FWIW, I did mygamjaishot's first post in this thread to upgrade from 2.1 - which would keep failing due to checksum errors due to a crappy root/unroot job a month or so ago) I can just start all over now, with 2.3.15.
 
Odd, I'm trying to do this now, but the Start button in RSD Lite doesn't highlight after I select the SBF file, and the device is showing in the list as well.


Nevermind, found a work around, seems to be a problem with RSD Lite, but I got it running, thanks. Flashing 2.2 stock now.
 
Apparently I don't have the driver files as when in the Bootloader I can't get my phone to show up in RSDLite.

Does any one have any suggestions on how to get it to show up in RSD Lite??

I've tried through the Bootloader, I've tried through PC Mode and Charge Only modes once in the system, and I've tried both front and rear USB ports, but nothing is working and I think it has to do with not having the right drivers. I'm on Win 7 x86 and it failed on some of the device driver installations but I can't force it to install the drivers.

Any help is appreciated.
 
You dont need your phone to be in any mode for boot loader. You just need the proper driver for the phone. Go download motoconnect. If that still doesnt work, i think try changing the settings in RSDlite by going to config> DeviceID > and select first-come-first serve.
 
Figured it out. I went to Moto's site and downloaded the MotoConnect and Drivers package. Once I installed the package/drivers I was then able to "see" my phone in RSD Lite and start the SBF flash. However, that wasn't where my woes ended. I was an idiot and failed to charge my battery enough to last through the flashing, in any case it's all good now and I've SBF'd the Full 2.2 ROM. So, all is good now and I just need to factory reset and then install my new Rom (Apex) and then recustomize. Disaster saved.

Oh, and if anyone has a problem with the Start button being grayed out in RSD Lite I found that the reason that was happening is because the file name wasn't the right length for the SBF I was using. It created an "Error...." log in the \Program Files\Motorola\RSD Lite\ folder which I opened up and guessed at how many spaces it needed to not kick it back, placed the SBF in the C:\ root directory and then it finally allowed me to Start and go through with the SBF.

Place file in C:\
Rename one character at a time to make file name longer until the Start button is selectable and not grayed/greyed out if having errors
Hit Start
~> Make sure battery is charged
Let SBF flash do its thing
Voila!

THANKFULLY! I have a co-worker that also has a DX and very graciously let me borrow their charged battery becuase I was stuck on the Bootloader screen that kept telling me

"Code Corrupt

Battery Low"

And once it gets to that point, you can't charge your battery so you have to charge your battery elsewhere (i.e. a desktop charger or someone else's phone) and then restart the SBF stuff. I figured I'd post this all in case somebody else has this problem as I know I searched endlessly for the problem on top of problems I had last night.
