Facebook app update - no browser needed

I'm sure you all have hated the Android Facebook app as much as I have. Notifications, wall posts, etc. all opened in the browser....ANNOYING.

Well, check your Market Downloads. There is finally an update available. I've only played with it for a few minutes but it seems to be a BIG improvement.

Sounds like they finally included places too! I have been tricking my two iphone owning friends who thought they were so great cause they could do it and I couldn't. So I loaded up the browser version, went to places and said "yes I can see?". It will be nice to have a legit version now even though I was only checking in to the Phillies stadium and now I have to wait til April anyway!

What is the Deals thing they talked about in the news section? Is that a separate app or something built into this one?

Now just if they would add the chat feature like the iPhone version has. Then this app would finally knock it out of the park. But until then, our version is still behind.

my gmail stopped syncing on its own since this update. I wiped my phone and it worked again until i logged into the facebook app. Anyone having similiar issues? It will sync but I have to go into the application and hit refresh...

Messages still do not work properly....very frustrated. If someone sends you a message which, has video, audio, pictures, youtube link, or weblink, you can't click on it. All these things work fine on the news feed but not on messages....just doesnot make sense.

I'd like them to integrate facebook within the messaging application like they do in the blackberry. I'd like to be able to post to someone's wall or send a message from the messaging application rather than having to use the facebook application.

if someone posts a link to your wall, clicking on the notification will take you to your wall in the web browser instead of in the app.. still not perfect yet

Definitely an improvement over earlier versions of the application. I had actually stopped using a Facbook application altogether and just used the mobile website until this version of the application was released. I will definitely be using it. They are making some good progress.

still lacking in notifications and still have to use the browser for some things. All i want is a damn notification for pokes! the earlier versions had this feature actually

I'm having the exact same problem with my main Gmail account.
