Help How do I go to a link from an email?

This is so frustrating...If i get a link to a facebook picture in an email and I touch it in gmail (stock app) it takes me to my facebook homepage. Not the picture. If i copy and paste the link it does the same. How the heck do I get to the actual link?

ETA: Ok, I just figured out that if i "share" the link, and text it to myself it works. Gotta be a better way...
