Car Dock...Turn off sleep mode!

Hello! I have the car dock...the one that didnt come with a charger of course...so i am having the issue of it going to sleep while in GPS mode. Is there any way, aside from buying a car charger, to make it so the phone does not go to sleep when it is in the car dock?

Get an app called Toggle Settings. It will give you an quick and easy way to disable screen time out.
 
Yeah those are solutions. If I were you I'd just get the car charger. I have mine hooked up so the charger is wrapped around the base and I have the auxillary cable wrapped around also so I just plug in the charger and I got my GPS all the time, no screen timeout, plus play music without my battery being drained. I bought a charger off ebay for like $5. I know people say don't go generic, but it works fine to me.
 
I had the same issue, so I started using my old ipod usb charger, along with my aux cable to play music.. however, when docked and driving I run into the problem of my music skipping, with the music app and also pandora.. could that just be my aux cable, or charger?

I'm currently playing music with my home stereo and have no problems skipping, so I'm hoping its a bad aux cable in my car
 
I'd get a charger. With GPS on, your screen on, and possibly having your Maps/Navigation running, it will eat your battery like a fat kid at a free buffet.

I've got the Samsung Car Dock that DID come with a charger....and my phone STILL sleeps! Ditto with the Samsung Desk cradle charger.
Any ideas please?

I second Redflea's suggestion of the KeepScreen app. I like it because it is not time dependent - i.e., I don't have to specify that the device should not time out after x minutes of operation. With this app installed, I can select specific apps to have constant screen-on, never-sleep functionality. So I do use it with Maps/GPS so the screen doesn't timeout when I'm driving. I also have the KeepScreen app set for this one app I use that turns the screen into a sort of flashlight. That app tends to screen timeout too, which is a hassle when I'm needing the phone to stay on as a flashlight.
