Another benefit of the screen on Galaxy S (polarized sunglasses)

I noticed while driving and using my (working) GPS on my new HTC Incredible, that the polarized sunglasses I was wearing block my view of its display.

Not so on my Samsung Captivate. Never had an issue with that. I also notice that the Captivate has the superior screen. Side by side with my Incredible, the Captivate's colors are richer, the blacks blacker, the brights brighter. (Apparently the Incredible went thru a mid-production switch to LCD when the AMOLEDs manufactured by Samsung weren't meeting demand).

Not enough to get me to switch back; just thought it was interesting.

Weird - I always drove around w/mine mounted sideways on the windshield (better in "landscape" mode when mounted). I wonder why I couldn't see my screen but you could see yours. Hmmmm....

I was curious about this, so I tested it with a real circular polarizer I have for my DSLR. Depending on the angle of view, the screen will dim either a lot or a little. I'll still be able to read it though. On the other hand at most angles, looking at my LCD monitor through the polarizer can turn it near pitch black.
