Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Will donate to beer fund tonight!!

Just did this and feel better now. Damn phone is my new obsession due to Fabs work! Good thing is my girlfriend understands and let me root/ROM her phone and shows it off to everyone that'll listen lol

Yeah pretty cool Droid-Life picked it up :) I mentioned it the other day to them when they were talking about an Droid 1 GB theme.

Fab, you are amazing.

Updating this morning and having no problems, just put this over 1.2.1. My wife and I were out shopping for most of the day and I was using this to compare prices and do some navigation as well as the Tweetdeck updates, texts and emails (my normal day use) and after 9 hours I still have 60% of my battery left.

This is everything that I could want in my phone. Great work! I will be buying you a few beers next week. THANK-YOU!

Noticed that this Rom has Backup Assistant and Social Networking Blur included. I tried using "-uninstall backup assistant" from the terminal but it said that it could not be found. Is there any way to remove these two, as I don't use either of them?

Switched back to the stock DX MT keyboard. Have to say though, with the GB keyboard the vibrations feel much stronger when compared to the stock DX MT.

Anyone else experience that?

i must say fab, i have tried out your other versions of apex and for some reason i could not stick with them, but with this new version, i am hooked. good job!!!

I uninstalled them with TIBU.

this happened to me when i installed 1.2.1

you are gonna have to go into recovery and wipe data and cache. then reboot. it will work fine after that.

That didnt work.

Anytime I try to restore my apks with Titanium Backup OR install apps from the market my phone reboots before anything can install .

I have sbf'ed and started fresh twice. I have wiped data/cache after installing Apex 1.3.0 and still have this issue....I'm lost

eXtreme, it is possible the download file was corrupted ? Let me get an md5 for you.

There're probably a few apps in the market that can check your file for you.

Dabomb,
Are you typing the dashes in Terminal? If so, try without...

The dashes are to be ignored (they are pseudo bullet points).

Install/Remove system apps: (warning, these are very powerful! Use with caution)
*Place desired file on /sdcard
-install
-uninstall

Ok I have a strange problem. I was on 2.2 OTA running apex 1.0.2. This morning I received an upgrade notification which I said remind me later. I then SBFd to 2.3.320 and installed apex 1.3. Everything seems smooth, except now every 10 min I get an Update Failed message, as if its trying to run the update. I wiped my cache but still no luck. Any ideas?

I re-downloaded when Itried it a second time..Checksums match

Thanks Fab! Done!

For those who have installed ApeX 1.3.0 I think I see what you mean with the GB keyboard being small. Unless maybe what I am seeing is normal compared to the stock DX MT keyboard.

I guess my question is, how small is small? Im finding it a little hard to type. Should I give it a day or two to see if I get used to it?

Guess my fat fingers are used to those bigger keys.

Feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

I've noticed this too. I've also noticed that the color scheme and functionality seems to be a bit different than some of the pictures that I've seen. Specifically, I noticed that the typing prompt is white, instead of beige, and that the green circle with a white plus in the center that shows up next to the typing prompt in the gb keyboard pictures is not there.

Are those differences the result of it being ported to the X?

Thanks for the response. No, i wasn't typing dashes in the Terminal, don't know why I put those in my post.

I just typed: "uninstall backup assistant"

Was I not supposed to put a space, or could it be under another name?

Just updated to the new OTA and I'll be installing this as my first ROM tonight :) I just have two fairly simple questions

1. I'm a little confused as to what exactly the terminal commands do. Just a quick explanation in simple terms would do.

2. If I want to go back to the stock ROM for whatever reason I just restore back to my nadroid and I'm good to go correct?

Make sure you do a backup AFTER the OTA and BEFORE you install the ROM, once you have .340, I don't think you can nandroid to anything previous...

1. The terminal is just like old school DOS. Fab added in new commands that allow the user to switch certain programs in and out, install or uninstall programs, overclock, and more. Check out the initial post for a list.

2. Yes, you should be good.

Ok thanks, so pretty much if I'm happy with it the way it is I don't even have to type a single letter in the terminal emulator.

Try adding the .apk

su
uninstall backup assistant.apk

Do you have TiBu? You can also use that to uninstall

I'm still on ApeX 1.2 but on my phone it would be:

su
uninstall BackupAssistanceClient.apk - capitalization counts in linux :)

you can find the file in /system/app

about to flash 1.3!

So. What would happen if I did an advanced restore in nandroid and restored the system and left the data alone? I'd really like to not have to re-download all my apps and lose my data. I have the stock rooted .340 OTA update...
