Does anyone know how much a Nexus S will cost unlocked? What about on contract?

Unlocked: $600 or so
With Contract: $150-$200 ish

Why are all unlocked phones such ridiculous prices? I know, it's probably to get you to go on contract, but why can't Google sell it for cheap? They're not out to make money off of it.

if you are not a super heavy user, ALL smartphones sold by carriers end up costing you almost twice the price of an unlocked one from ebay or wherever.

Thats because they are expensive - Contracts bind you in whatever length of time and recover the cost of the handset through your usage charges. Thats how it works.
