the new nexus s is nothing but a galaxy s phone running gingerbread,
it does not compare to the mytouch 4g.
we have the best phone on planet earth right now!!!!!!!!!!!:)
MYTOUCH 4G

While I do like the MT4G, I am trading mine for the nexus s. Here is what is better about the nexus:1. pure Google, no sense, updates directly from Google2. better screenThere are several advantages of the MT4G but I will always choose a pure Google phone over HTC and sense anyday. Especially when the hardware is that similar

I may be weird, but I like Sense. It does suck that skins make it more difficult to update the OS, but it makes the phone fun to use on a daily basis. I do miss the screen of the Vibrant for multimedia purposes, but for general browsing purposes the samoled screen didnt make much of a difference.

I'm so happy with this phone. When I had the Vibrant I felt like I was missing something even though I had an amazing phone. With the MT4G I dont know what else I could need.

i think sense is awesome, i wouldn't want a
phone without it. as for getting "updates" quicker,
take a look at what gingerbread has to offer, virtually NOTHING.
the mytouch 4g is so loaded and has such amazing hardware that
our phone will still be awesome 2 years from now.
honestly, if i got a notification on my phone that said
i could update to gingerbread, i would not do it. why, because
my phone works and sounds so amazing i would be afraid that
gingerbread would screw something up.

I think thats a silly reason to not update to gingerbread. I'm sure it will all be fine. I personally can't wait until there's a cyanogen mod that runs on the MT4G. One thing I liked about the MT3G was that it was so easy to root and flash new ROMs. I'd probably have gingerbread on that ASAP given the chance.

I am waiting till Thursday and probably get a Nexus S and a MT4G to see which one I like (getting rid of iPhone4, OS is beyond boring).

Nexus S+:
Gingerbread, (definitely nice, although not too many major changes,)
Screen, definitely batter, no questions.
Google phone=always first updates.(hate to wait for updates.
Free hotspot turned on
Will have a large community supporting

Nexus S-:
No expansion (No big deal for me, never ever on a phone swapped memory)
No dedicated camera button, (No biggie for me)
Samsung plasticy Cheap Build
Possible not 720P recording,(conflicting info on that one.)

TM4G+:
4G,(Although not true still faster than 3G, thats a big one for me)
Sense UI,(very cool)
Nice built phone (Although a little on the heavier side)
So far nice accessories (No biggie, sure samsung will too)

TM4G-:
No Gingerbread as of now

MT4G: 786MB of RAM
1Ghz Snapdragon
4G Connectivity
Great build quality
Hardware buttons & trackpad
5MP Camera + 720P Video Recording (very good I might add)
MicroSD Card Slot

Nexus S: 1Ghz Hummingbird + Better GPU
Vanilla Android
4 Inch Samoled Contour Screen

If you're willing to give that all up just to get 1 update from Google before the phone is obsolete, be my guest. I choose the phones with the best hardware and overall package, especially when the stock android roms will easily be ported to the MT4G.

my touch 4 g is still the best phone out right now ....but for how long ?????????

I would say until the next generation of HTC phones come out, which could be Feb/March of next year at the earliest, or if the Galaxy S2 gets announced.

I also actually prefer sense and see it as a PLUS, not a drawback. cant live without swype anymore.

Thought about the nexus S but to give up HPSA+, removeable/upgradeable SD card, sense, more RAM for a slightly more aesthetic exterior with a slightly bigger screen and arguably better or equivalent screen to the mytouch4g, I really say the cons outweigh the pros on this one. Samsung seems to push the nexus S as a filler product and spaces out different phones with slightly different marketing and design to play to its advantage the fact that android is always rolling updates and never really "finished" as opposed to apple who does it the 1 masterpiece, "flawless software" type of mentality.

I guess with android's open and constant progressing and changing system, you will get a bunch of mediocre and filler phones to accompany the minor changes, AKA gingerbread.

All about marketing if you ask me. The mytouch4g with gingerbread will blow most of the compareable phones that came out at the same time, out of the water.

I'm amazed about how good the video is on the MT4G. I really don't see no other phone topping it. I started recording everything all because the video recording is so nice.

Oh and there is no way I would switch to the Nexus S. It's a samsung. I had the behold 2 and there is no way I touch another samsung product unless it's free or too cheap to pass on. I will admit that the Nexus S's screen looks beautiful, but the phone is made from plastic and I wouldnt want to pay 600 dollars for a plastic phone.

Yeah the recording is pretty darn good. I really have to start recording more stuff lol

I had the Behold II and I have to say- how many Android phones do you know that can work the $4.99 t-zones plan? I imagine you can exploit the same t-zones/unlimited web loophole with the Nexus S until those ports are closed forever (which is why I jumped to the preferred Android plan and the MT4G).

Sure bigger and better is always waiting in the wings, but you might as well rock one of the slickest phones out now and wait another two years to pick up the next possible Vanilla Thrilla or whatever will be out there then.

Virtually nothing for now but you will see later down the road especially being that a lot of games are gonna be optimized in 2.3 android more than 2.2 so... Maybe 2.3 isn't that different cosmetically but hey its all good.

Nexus phones NEVER become obselete thats why they are the most desired. Its not just 1 update its the guarantee that you will get all future updates that your device can handle. Its about being long term. Nexus S is

You can't say Nexus S build quality is less unless you owned it of which no consumers do own it yet.

Nexus S will have 720p after the update comes same way as Nexus One did. And the Nexus S has a 5MP camera as well.

according to your life the only things that really matter are microSD and HSPA+

According to my life? What kind of shit is that.

Never become obsolete? How are you able to make such a profound statement? It's not like a Nexus device has been out for over a year. The Nexus One's hardware is on it's last legs, if you deny that your biased.

Even though the Nexus S clearly has a plasticy finish, I have no right to say the MT4G has better build quality.

Keep em coming.

Both have trade offs.

Nexus S:

2.3 and fastest updates
Best GPU out (makes whole os smoother)
Bigger and better looking screen (imo)
Thinner than MT4G (fwiw)

MT4G:

Expandable memory
HSPA+
More solid build quality (even though the white one is hard plastic)
720p video capture out the box

Also, If I am understanding the benchmarks posted on AnandTech's Nexus S/Gingerbread review, MT4G blew Nexus S away in most of the tests.

How is that possible, newer hardware, 2.3 vs 2.2, clean UI and no blotware???

Is MT4G really a better unit.

Come on guys, I have 1 more day left to decide....:D

If you don't mind HTC stick with the MT4G, I personally hate sense and want stock Android on any phone I own so I am trading mine for the nexus s. personally I think the other advantage of the nexus is the screen, but other than that hardware is better on the MT4G and software is WAAAAY better on the nexus.

I like the screen and build of the Nexus S, I wish it wasn't used with the materials it was made with though. I would get it if it had HD recording, memory card slot (no updating roms, unless they change rooting and you no longer need a sd card), camera button, LED notification light (which I hated not having on the iPhones). I really don't care about 4G, I like 2.3 and an android without sense but whatever. Maybe I'll wait to see what comes about next.

I bought a MT4G and was worried that I was going to have regret when the nexus s shipped..... So far, no regret...... The only reason I can see for getting the Nexus S is stock android (and that becomes moot if you root your device). You lose expandable memory, HSPA+ and HTC design. Of course it's a very close call and both of them are phenomenal phones but personally if I had to buy again right now I would get the MT4G HANDS DOWN. Additionally to everything else I've said the MT4G is quite a bit cheaper (I don't buy phones on contract I pay full price).

In conclusion my vote is for MT4G but I think you'll be more than happy with either phone.

Part of the internal storage is partitioned as an SD card. On the root of the drive there is a /sdcard directory so everything you need an SD card for like ROMs is fine. :)

I was tempted to get mytouch 4g for my nexus1, but seeing the issues with some models having washed-out screens - hit or miss! - and lack of software support (I'm a geek) - I'd rather stay with nexus, which is essentially a very similar phone.

HTC supports their phones it's samsung that doesn't (moot point in this discussion though as we're talking about a nexus device).
Also the washed out screen thing is being taken way out of hand. I just compared mine to my wifes last night and turns out I have the "bad" screen. It's not a huge deal honestly.
