Help HTC Weather Widget not showing correct location

ok, I tried 10 cities from different states. small and big cities. It found all o them :P

not that I am saying accuweather is the best thing ever. but it's working now...

From looking at the dates on some of these problems, I'm guessing that I should be happy that it ever worked.

Sometime around midday on 12/15/10, mine stopped showing the weather on the widget. It updates and shows only the current location. When I open the weather, it say's the low temp is 0. and doesn't show the sun or moon. I can change it to one of the other location's I have stored and it works just fine. But when I change it back to the current location there's nothing.

I hadn't realized how much i relied on that function until I've spent the last half day without it.

Mine is finding other cities including my own city when entered as just another city. But it's not finding any info on my city as my current location.

Nope. This problem comes and goes.

Got up this morning - weather ok. Commuted to nearby city - weather ok. Got home - no weather. First time in about 2 weeks this has happened. 2 weeks ago - was like that for three days.

Has happened maybe a 1/2 dozen times since I got my phone 6 months ago.

It's intermittent. I really doubt that my Evo firmware from August and accuweather are conspiring over Gingerbread - really doubt it.

Right now - on the web - accuweather.com says my city - that existed this morning - does not exist now.

i noticed the problem after my girlfriend asked me if it was going to snow so i pulled out my evo and to my suprise under the clock was nothing so after screwing with it for 15 mins i gave up...now my only question is will the problem work its self out?

does any one have any idea
THANKS

I just check for software update and am currenty getting a big update of some kind. I will let you know what it is when it gets done. Anyone else get recent update? My phone is 2 weeks old

Mine has the location of another City from where I'm actually located in with no weather showing. Whats weird is the city or shall I say town its showing is a tiny rural town that I cant even get a 3g signal in and is about 20 mins from me. And I have never taken my phone to that town for it to even have that location show up on the phone.

Well mine is still the same My location bullshit but when I go into the widget at least now it doesnt say 0 Lo and accurate Highs now its actually reading the weather here MIA but still not appearing on the buttom of the clock.

Thats exaclty what mine was doing than finally was able to get the temps but still hasnt been able to show them on the widget

I had this problem since yesterday. I live in NY but the default location kept saying San Diego, CA with their time. Deleting that location didn't work. I'd delete it and it would reappear back when I hit home or "back".

So, removed the widget, forced stopped it and cleared the data associated with the clock (in applications).

Then I added the widget back and San Diego was gone. Works now but what the hell happened?!

That, my friend, is the $64 question.

When a city doesn't show up in accuweather but the location is right on your widget, it's accuweather's fault.

When a city is ok on accuweather but your location is hosed, or there's no weather anyway - it's the phone's fault.

I think this kind of defect falls into the category of hokie-pokie-chicken-dance bug.

Until it's fixed or we know what the real problem is, gyrations similar to the bug itself seem to help.

Mine has started showing another city I have never heard of and changing time to match, a 5 hour difference. This is a major issue for me since I use the phone as an alarm clock and for scheduling alerts.

I don't see this as an accuweather issue since the time is over the Sprint network, there is a bad glitch somewhere. Rebooting may or may not fix it, turning off gps seems to fix it, but still requires a reboot.

I was having the same problem and out of desperation tried updating my profile...seems to have magically solved the problem.

Your time in notification bar is from Sprint - note it will be probably right when the widget is wrong - or - am I mistaken??

In any case, this hits HTCs on many carriers, even overseas.

By the way, for all interested in the weather/location issue - check out DanDroid's posts in this thread regarding the weather, starting here - http://androidforums.com/htc-thunde...get-wrong-location-problem-2.html#post2535440
