Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Guys I have put the Good GB zip on my SD card. When I go into clockwork recovery and get to choose zip fron SD card it does not show the zip on the card. I know it is on there.

-Place file on your sdcard. Bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery
-Navigate to mounts and storage. FORMAT data, and cache
-Return to previous menu and install .zip from sd card
-Choose ApeX and install!

Do I need to do step 2?

Just installed 1.3.1 over 1.3.0. Now I am getting 2 text messages every time someone messages me?

Was I supposed to uninstall one before i installed this? On one of them I keep getting a popup to choose between messaging or text messaging?

What do I need to do to just receive a single message when someone texts?

TIA

Ok I got the Good GB installed but when I go into the terminal emulator it doesn't show up. Do I install it some other way?

Either run

su
messaging -mot

or

su
messaging -aosp

in the terminal emulator, depending on which one you want to keep.

So if I just install 1.3.1 over 1.3 without doing anything else I should be fine?

Yes, you should be alright, though it will reset the app configuration back to default, so you may need to run the scripts again if you chose to use the "backup" apps.

If it's installed, you should be able to enable it in settings, keyboards, and choose 'android keyboard'

Did a factory reset/clean install of ApeX.

Autokiller is still hosed. Not sure what's up. Sucks. :(

Try going into /usr/bin/setup_bt.sh and deleting the line that does autokilling. You'll know which one it is when you see it.

See if that solves the problem. You may need to chmod it back to 755 when you replace the file.

Fab, thanks, I was going to do that and see if it helped before you posted.

One question though, is the -aosp switch the messaging app from 1.3.0 and the -mot switch the blur one?

TIA

OK will try that.

Do I get to that file via Root Explorer? Or in Terminal?

If Root Explorer, how to I get to chmod it back?

Thanks Fab!

Fab,

Well I tried this in terminal emulator and getting errors. I will tell you what it says.

In Terminal it says:

export PATH=/data/local/bin:$PATH

$su
#messaging -aosp
failed on '/system/app/Messaging.apk' - No such file or directory
failed on '/system/app/Conversations.apk' - No such file or directory
failed on '/system/app/Mms.bak' - No such file or directory
Using AOSP MMS App

What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do?

Edit: Nevermind, I think I got it. I had to use the -mot switch first and then use the -aosp switch. Didn't get any errors that way.

I am having trouble installing nandroid. Does anyone have a good zip file I can try to see if its a bad zip that I got. Got the zip from the xda forums.

Anyone else getting lag when they are typing? Mine is two words behind from when I type to when I see it om screen.

Brilliant work. Just one question, is there any script to keep the default window animations from Android? The custom ones are just slightly distracting to me. The rest of the rom is absolutely mind blowing though, excellent work.

Go into spare parts (in app drawer)and disable window transitions.

I looked at that, and while I appreciate the suggestion, completely kills all transitions, when I would simply like the default Android transitions. But thanks for the thought though!

I guess this is a dumb question, but is there a airplane mode widget or was that part of blur?

I replaced the stock "Power Control" widget with Dazzle (free in the market). It has an airplane toggle and a few other extra useful choices.
