Getting Desire to work in Canada (Rogers+Others)?

EmperorLu

Lurker
What exactly has to be done in order to get a Desire bought from Telus to work on Rogers 3G network? I am aware that there has to be firmware changes to get it to GSM, but what exact firmware?
Is it something that can be downloaded online?
How do you do it?
What is the degree of difficulty?
Is there a high risk of messing up the phone for good?

I have to get it unlocked too right?
And how do I get to the droid 2.2 if it isn't already installed?

OR

Does anyone know of any carriers that would be compatible besides Rogers/Telus/Bell in Canada?

I'm currently deciding on a new phone plan, and I do want the Desire, but I realized it's quite difficult to get a good plan to work with the phone.

Thanks!

Hi, you have to things to do.
