Help Problem with default message application

kbmkris

Lurker
I have bought my x10 mini pro yesterday and after going through this forum, i have installed handcent sms application. Now, i am getting notifications for both handcent and default application. Kindly let me know how I can disable the notification for default SMS application.

Thanks,
Bala

Go to your sony messaging app, press menu>settings then untick notifications on 2.1.

If you are still on 1.6 I think it was in settings>sony ericssson>messaging and then notifcations but not totally sure on that (only had 2.1 a couple of weeks - how quick you forget!)

You've not forgotten. That's exactly right. I've not been 'done' yet with the 2.1 upgrade. 2.2 has only been out for 6 months, so there's clearly no hurry.

Thanks for the confirmation... this old ladies brain ain't what it used to be:D:D

Thanks. Now, I am able to get rid of the notification. I am very new to android phones and whether we will get 2.2 OS soon for mini pro? Will it increase the battery life as mine drains out in 24 hours with all data/wifi turned off :-(

There has been no official announcements from SE regarding any further updates so who knows!?

My X10 large I use daily with all the bits n pieces switched on and it lasts the day but I have to charge it every night as I go to bed. The X8 I have I don't use with a data plan only wifi, so this lasts longer.

I think one of the downsides of having such a small phone is the battery size is limited so I other than the normal things, turn screen brightness down, don't poll too frequently for mail/facebook/twitter etc, turn off data traffic if you don't need it there isn't much you can do other than charge nightly.

I have a gt540 on 1.6. I have a similar problem. Notifictions on lock screen don't go away unless I check default. I'm trying handcent. I disabled notifications on default app and still get it. Any ideas?
