Help Connecting EVO to PC with WIFI

Hey folks,
I'm a newbie. I am trying to connect my EVO to my PC to sync it via wifi. When I go to wireless setting etc in settings (on the EVO) my computer is not listed- just other wifi networks. My WIFI on the PC is on and working but not sure if I need to make is discoverable or something else. The first time I tried it was in my evo wireless list and asked for a password (I tried to guess but no luck). Now its not even there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the fold. What are you trying to sync? I believe from what you have stated that you are looking for something that you would need a third party software for such as the Missing Sync or Double Twist. In this situation you would connect both the EVO and your PC to the same WiFI Network (you would need a WiFi Router setup) and then run the software. I hope this helps a little at least.

i am trying to use wifi to sync my outlook contacts and calendar without using a cable. i was trying to use the sync android program found here:
Sync android with outlook for free

I looked up missing sync but would prefer not to spend $40 on a prgram. seems like it should just work without it.

I agree 40 bucks for a program is a bit much. Right out of the box the EVO will sync wired with Outlook by installing the HTC Sync software which is free. Of course being a Google product it syncs wirelessly with Gmail. I would give this software a try which is free.... never used it because I use Gmail to manage my contacts and Calendar.

I am a gmail user as well. Forget the wifi- how do i use gmail to sync my contacts and calendar with outlook and my droid?

Google Calendar Sync will effectively sync your Outlook Calendar with Gmail. The Contacts are a different story. The free way is to Export your Outlook Contacts to a CSV file and then Import them in Gmail; or Companion Link which works very well but is 40 bucks. I have seen a few betas floating around called gcontactssync or something along those lines but all very buggy. So the long and the short of it is in order to do it nice and neatly you will have to pay something. Before you do that though seriously give the link I posted above a shot. It sounds very promising.
