Last weekend I downloaded (amongst other app updates) the latest update for Facebook (1.5.0) which now includes the chat facility. Since then I've discovered my battery draining at an alarming rate. My usual usage would previously have left me with anything between 50% and 80% of my battery left at the end of the day - usually closer to the 70% mark.
Suddenly on Monday after only moderate use (a couple of calls, 3 e-mails with photo attachments and a few texts) I was shocked to see my battery indicator in the yellow and down to 28% by mid afternoon.
Yesterday the drain was not as bad but it still dropped to 30% by the time I went to bed.
Today I noticed the battery starting to drain away again, so I did some research and wondered whether it might have to something to do with the new chat facility on FB. I found out how to go offline and that seems to have stemmed the flow, because the battery has only dropped by some 10% in the last 3 or 4 hours.
Is anyone else aware of any problems with this update? BTW I have an unbranded Desire with Froyo installed. I also use the standard FB app, not FB for HTC Sense. Thanks!
