aTAKEphONE released

Just a small addition to the search-bug.

If I input numbers and then make the dialpad disappear, the search results come up. But, if I thumb up the dialpad and input new numbers, I have to thumb down dialpad for the fresh search results. Hope this helps :)

Could I make a small request? Could the call icon have the little green phone rather than being blended in - it would make it more obvious when you're trying to dial a number you and just call it, rather than saving it.

Hi,

Which call icon do you mean - the one on top, or the one at the bottom tab ?

I do not know if that was mentioned before, but my installation keeps FCing after I exit it or leave it using the home button.

I am using Lithium Mod, by the way.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that.

What version are you using ?

(and pardon my ignorance, but what is lithium mod ?)

Sorry...I meant to say Lithium Mod ROM on a Droid Incredible. I must have accidentally deleted the rest out.

I am using version 1.38 (003)

Thanks.

Will try to think of what the cause can be.

Anyone else experiencing this ?

The phone icon at the bottom center. Actually anywhere there's a phone icon. It just makes it easier to find that icon to make a call.

Hi,

I have to say - I tried that, and it just did not look good with most of the skins.

If you could send me a design, I'd be happy to look.

It's not a design, just a color - that nice green of the stock phone. It's ok, if you don't want to, that's no problem, I just thought it would draw attention to it better.

Hi,

I know you meant the color only.

It just did not seem right with most of the built in skins (blue and then green...)

Hi,

Afraid I can't control the dialer screen - it's the built-in app.

Thanks.

Afternoon. Not trying to hijack this thread, but it looks like you guys might be able to help. I found this thread trying to locate an app to overlay the portrait dialer with a landscape one when docked in the car. (this app looked awesome, until I saw the above post.... rats...) SO, while this appears to be a great app from the postings, does anyone know a way to change, alter, hide, or otherwise fix the portrait mode dialer when car docked? I LOVE the built in nav, and now that I got the car kit for Christmas (yeah) I can really see the dialer being a pain. Any thoughts? (by the way, again, not to digress, but what does an app like Takephone "do" if not completely replace the native dialer? Just a noobie curious Q.....) Thanks!

Hi,

What does it do ? Hey - try it... 30 days full featured trial at ShSh Software

Regarding your question - If I could I would replace the dialer screen, but Google will not let me (I mean us 3rd party developers).

not sure if it has been mentioned, but there is just one thing keeping me from using it exclusively. sometimes, when i start searching for a contact with the keypad i don't get any results, it just keeps displaying my last call. so i need to exit it and find my stock contacts app to go through them all.

Thank you, I have the exact same problem. I have the stock contact app right next to aTAKEphONE for precisely this reason.

Great app. Fills my need for pasting numbers and a different look, replacing the stock HTC Sense dialer on my EVO.

A little confusion about the paid/trial versions:
I read somewhere that Android market supposedly has or will have a 15 min refund period different from the 24 hr one it has/had. I don't know for sure since I haven't returned anything in Market yet. So...I didn't see a free version on the Market, so I got the one from your website for trial. I only needed an hour to decide to buy it. You may want to put your free version/paid versions concurrently on the Market, offering a seamless upgrade option; Maybe an 'upgrade' button in preferences or have the paid app auto upgrade the previously installed one keeping settings. This is how alot of trial/paid apps work from the Market.
Once I decided to purchase takephone, it wasn't immediately clear how to go about getting the paid version or whether the Market paid version upgraded the trial version or if I had to uninstall it first, ect.
UPDATE: The purchased version upgraded and replaced the trial just fine.

Colors: Primary and secondary colors seem confusing. Maybe adding something in the lable in preferences to describe better what they do. Changing primary color works by changing the skin. Secondary colors doesn't seem to do anything, except for wallpaper, which requires BOTH primary and secondary to be switched to it to work. Toggle skin doesn't do anything with wallpaper skin. I assumed it would go to another skin.
I'd rather much see 'Toggle Skin' replaced by something more useful in the menu, since you can do this already in preferences.

Takephone has voicemail long press, which made me think there was speed dial also. It wasn't immediately clear to me how to create/edit speed dial, if that is an included feature. If there is speed dial, is there a need for favorites? If favorites is intended to be a speed dial feature, wouldn't it be better to have long press speed dial instead?

Suggestion - Have an option to look up prefix/area codes as you dial the number. This was a feature I liked on HTC winmo dialers that previewed/informed me what states/provinces I was calling into after the the entry was completed, but before dialing. Not a high priority, but useful with my business. It can be small text and not take up much space. It would require knowing what database to use or what country the phone is in, in order to intelligently know when a proper dialing sequence has beeen entered. In the U.S. it's 10 digits. It would probably require an option to turn on/off in the preferences, and also to set what database you would like to show (us states & canadian provinces based on the area code, countries based on country code, 4 digit uk geographic numbers, ect.

Suggestion: Have an option to take off the little phone/mobile/email symbol off of the ibar icons. It is useful, but can be obscuring as well.

Thank you for providing response. I almost always favor apps with frequent developer response over higher Market ratings when comparing similar apps.

Hi,

Sorry for this - I am (painfully) aware of this issue. Trying to resolve this asap.

A little confusion about the paid/trial versions:

As far as I know, I can not put a full featured trial on the market. I am considering posting a "free" or "lite" version, but still debating with my self which features I can take out to make it a "lite" or "trial" (to "force" users to buy the full app...).

So to allow users to try the full set of features for a full 30 days - I have a trial version on my own website (risking it being pirated... and it is...).
If you download the trial from my website, it will run for 30 days, then ask you to enter a reg code. You get that by purchasing at my website.

Or - you can in stead purchase the app from the Market app on your device. It will replace the trial you installed, and then you'll get the updates, etc.

Made me think - maybe I should allow going directly to the market from the trial version, too.[/QUOTE]

These are two separate sets of skins so you can toggle between them from the main menu - reasoning: you can keep a "dark" skin for indoors, and a "light" skin for when you're outdoors (for better sunlight readability). This is why it is in the main menu - for fast & easy swapping. I use it a lot.

Not sure I understand - long press on 2-9 buttons should speed-dial your 2-9 entries in the favorites list. Doesnt it ?

Great idea. Added to my list of future features. Thanks.

Nice touch. Also added to my list.

Thank YOU (and all others here) for providing inputs. I have been doing this with TAKEphONE and other products on Palm OS, and I truly feel this has made TAKEphONE the good app that it is. I benefit from this more than you guys do !

I know you've been busy but has there been progress with the widget and allowing you to select which number to call when you click on a contact?

Thanks for all your efforts.

Lag and lack of search results seem to be fixed, thanks for keeping this the best dialer out there :)

New version is looking good so far.

I have a feature request. I'd like to be able to look up a person's contact info (name and cell #), and text that info to another contact (so that they can dial/text to the number). The "send" option in atakephone gives me bluetooth and barcode options. If I open a contact in the Contacts app and select "share", I get a few more options but no "text to" option.

Is this possible?

Hi,

I am banging my head trying to figure out a way to make this more clear - the option is already there...

When you press the "Send" option you are taken to the FIND sreen where you indeed see a BT & barcode options.

But SMS & emails are also there - you need to FIND the contact you want to send to... So - from that screen with the BT & barcode options - just start a search for the contact you want to send TO. Once you find it - tap it on the search results list, and select the phone/email field you want to send to.
