aTAKEphONE released

I didn't get a 'you are not purchased' dialog, first I get the Replace Application dialog, that says the application TAKEphONE contact dialer 1.38 (003) will replace the currently installed aTAKEphONE, Existing user data will be saved, with the OK button, then, upon clicking OK, the permissions dialog happens, OK, then I am just immediately brought to the Google checkout page for the app, with a price of 2 pounds, as though I've never purchased it. I sent you the log.

So at first the program recognizes me as an existing user, then it 'forgets' me.

I am using Appbrain, I wonder if that would make any difference? I'm going to toddle off to the Market app and see what happens, stay tuned......

No joy. Interestingly enough, the widget installed, but not the app, I go to the Google checkout screen as described above. Now I wonder if the widget will be messed up, since it's updated without the app being updated :(

Hi,

This is even more strange - the screen you describe are not aTAKEphONE screens at all !

This is all within the Android Market application !

Could it be the email address set on your device is different than the one you used for the initial purchase ?

Otherwise - this is some issue with the Google market.
Anyone else here can report the same issue ?

Wait - could this be because of the refund ?!?!
When I search "rein" in the database, I only see a single [urchase - then one I canceled when I issued the refund.

Did you see two charges for aTAKEphONE in your credit card from Google ?

I'm researching it but it'll have to wait, I've got to go out for awhile. Right now I'm only showing one purchase, on 11/9. I'll have to get to my Gmail and put more together.

For the record I have never changed my e-mail address associated with my Google account.

Hi,

I suggest we take this offline, since this is personal info.
If we find out this is a bug with aTAKEphONE, we'll post the info here.

I will contact you via email.

Thanks.

I tried the newest version, same as before. I love the UI but there are lags and delays along with forced closures. Sent a log a week ago, no response.

I've been using the newest update now for a few days, and all seems well on my end. One question I do have is how do you just add a contact without calling them? I could find no option for just adding a new contact.

ask and you shall receive:D thanks bro it looks great!

i'm curious, what are all those skins for takephone on your site? are those compatible with the android atakephone?

Hi,

Sorry about this - still working on these. Can not recreate it, and trying to figure out what the cause can be.

Hi,

You just start typing in the phone number.

Then you'll get options displayed in the search results list:

"Create a new contact"
"Add to existing contact"
...

Hi,

Afraid not - these are for the Palm OS version, that had 320x320 screens.

I will be adding support for downloading skins from web, but not sure you will be able to use the same files. I will have to rely on users again to create the Android ones...

Hi there...firstly I have to say I don't yet use your application but due to exposure you are giving yourself by constantly being available as a developer to your customers, is making me want to try the application myself.

A few questions:
Does this work with the latest 2.2.1 build of Froyo?

Thanks for your kind words.

You can get a full featured 30 days trial at ShSh Software

Should work on Froyo - works on my Nexus updated.

I agree and I have to say that I use Takephone as my exclusive dialer app. The ability to change x in the extension to a pause is vital for me because I have a lot of business contacts that I sync with my ACT database at work.

A couple of requests that I have that I already mentioned:
1. I like the widget but it would be nice to have the option to allow you to select another phone to dial instead of just the default. It would be great to have a popup that lists the other numbers for the contact.
2. Have an option to display the company name under the contact name because it runs off the screen and most times I can't see the company name if the contact name is long.

Thanks for a great program and for taking suggestions.

Hi,

1. Still thinking on how to do this - dont want to lose the instant call way of using it (like right now).

One option would be to add a settings panel to the widget, where you can decide if you want instant calling (like it does now), or popup menu when you press a button with all the numbers/ SMS, etc.

Another option was to popup that menu and countdown for a default operation, so you press a button, it pops up on screen (the full menu), but if you don't touch anything for X secs it will automatically dial the default number.

Third option - tap on a button pops up a menu, but if you tap the button itself again - dial the default number. So double tapping a button will dial the default number (like now)

2. Will add this option (also in call log).

Thanks

I think just adding an option to do it either way. Most everyone has at least two phone numbers nowadays and having the option to select from the widget would be helpful.

Thanks.

Regarding more sizes - what would you want in a 2x4 ? more i-Bars ?

Might just be me, but the ibar widget icons are a little small for my fingers. If you could somehow make the size of the icons in the ibar widget the same size as the icons above the dialpad in the "Call" screen, that'd be great. The prob is that you've got to fit the left/right arrows in there. But...

How about making the widget non-scrolling, 4x1 size, but customizable: a choice of either 5 contacts or a last call redial. If a user wants more than 5 contacts, he can just keep adding widgets.

These are good ideas. I might do this - add settings to the i-Bar widget, where you can select its type:
- current one.
- only last call.
- only i-Bar.

I would like to be able to swipe the widget back and forth to scroll through it rather than hit those little arrows. I can understand how someone with large fingers would get frustrated, my fingers are small and I have a hard time with it.

Hi,

Afraid swiping is not possible on a widget with the current Android OS implementation, nor a "tap and HOLD" - only a single click.

Hi!

Its nice to see such a good support here :)
I've been using this dialer for several months now on my N1, and only have a few gripes about it - maybe you can help...

Apart from the lags (which you're already working on) the last few versions produced an odd behaviour: it stopped searching for contacts. When I enter some numbers, no results come up. The only way to fix this is to kill the app and relaunch it. It happens when the app is on the SD card, but also when its in the internal memory. Could you shed some light on this? Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry about that. This is part of the same issue. Hope it will be resolved soon.

Thanks
